well, happy in love and all as i was last valentines day and this one, i wouldnt go all out for it. sure last years was spent babysitting, cooking for me and the lovely bf and the rest of my family though he was so sweet and lovely and got me the softest little teddy ever, its still livin on my shelf. While i didnt and dont expect anything it was nice.

so im not against it coz im bitter, and its not pressure against marketing groups, they gotta make money too, i jsut dont think romance should be limited to february, although it is spring and the daffodils are out.

Also, i dont think the bf would appreciate being given flowers and dirty knickers, they wouldnt really suit him

am happy to do lovey dovey any day i have been known to get the boyfriends a present for no better reason than it's monday and i love you style of thing

Well I have to say the gooey pink and red hearts everywhere are sickening. But I do like Valentine's day because it's another excuse to make and receive gifts, it's like a mini xmas just for me and my love. And feck the marketing, I make my own cards these days anyway, and the pressie's only very remotely related to anything red, pink or gooey.

Default new perspective on Valentine's day...

Just seen on the news a guy was arrested for plotting a mass suicide on Valentine's day through a chat room. I know it's a depressing/annoying/irritating (delete or add as appropriate) holiday for single people, but that's pushing it a bit far...

Feer rike a bird in a cage

But nobody here seems to rearize it
When I rure the world maybe they'rr notice me
But untir then I'rr just be ronery
Rittle ronery, poor rittle me

See now, if you are really good, you can do that AND do it on Valentine's day, but downplaying the importance of the day for a week or so before hand, acting like you had nothing planned and THEN pulling a surprise...

And doing nothing on Valentine's Day is often a huge surprise to your other half... watch the look on their face when you do that one...

Orchids! Orchids are a big winner! If you buy your girlfriend a huge (and I mean HUGE) bunch of orchids you'll be a winner....

There's some rule somewhere where you always have to one up yourself... do one better... two bunches of orchids? An orchid farm? A personalised geneticially engineered orchid in the shape of a J?

Ah, we'll have to see

Relationships -- of all kinds -- are like sand held in your hand. Held loosely, with an open hand, the sand remains where it is. The minute you close your hand and squeeze tightly to hold on, the sand trickles through your fingers. You may hold on to some of it, but most will be spilled. A relationship is like that. Held loosely, with respect and freedom for the other person, it is likely to remain intact. But hold too tightly, too possessively, and the relationship slips away and is lost. -- Kaleel Jamison
