View Full Version : Sausages - do you eat them?
Sausages freak me out. I mean, what's in them? It's all gross stuff, isn't it? I have eaten sausages (even had some yesterday - they were horrible), but when I think about it, I nearly retch. Do you have a problem with them?
Nope, I think they are great. I even have some Irish ones waiting for me in the fridge, Yum. I love sausage sandwiches for breakfast, in toast and some tomato sauce.
Germans love their sausages, and there are lots of different types. In Munich they have ones made from veal and pork, which are white and steeped in hot water before they serve them to you with some sweet mustard, they are called Weißwurst (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wei%C3%9Fwurst).
i like sausages i must say. nothing like a sausage on a fork whilst waiting for taost or soemthing. black pudding though, i have been turned off it.

Sausage sandwiches with very fresh bread, lots of butter and ketchup. YUM
I love puddings though. They're delicious. Althuogh I remember a friend of mine telling me a story about how she worked in a butchers and the pudding used to come in a huge vat of warm blood :( Bleugh!

sausages and pudding are a must, it's just not a breakfast roll without them. and i know exactly what goes into them but sure how bad, waste not want not.....
Mmmmm...food of any type, but in particular (because they've been mentioned) sausages...
I guess the more important question is what are the nicest sausages ? I've always been a Galtee fan, but I did see some nice looking ones the last time I was in Tesco's.
Yeah, that's true. The ones I had last week were horrible - soggyish. I know there's certain nice irish types, but I can't think of them. Roscrea, maybe?

There are sausages and there are SAUSAGES. The former are normally filled with leftovers swept up from the butchers cutting room floor and completely rubbish.
Now turn to SAUSAGES there are quite a few good examples, the finest being produced in my local butchers called Garrisons in Conisbrough. However they do become addictive and within a few weeks of trying them your trouser belt soon runs out of holes and local children start calling you "Fatso" I now have them only three times a week.
My preference is a half cooked then split down the middle continue cooking till well done, prepare two slices of toast with plenty of butter, place the sausage carefully on the toast and drizzle some Branston sauce over the lot.ENJOY!!!
I now have them only three times a week.Wow, you must be really taking a lifestyle hit there ! ;) I like sausages, but at most I could eat them once a fortnight.

I like them FULLY cooked and on toast with some tomato sauce. Sometimes I add some of that fake cheese like easy singles, when I am really trying to hurt my body.
I actually ate a "Tesco Extra Value Jumbo Sausage" yesterday. 32% pork, yum! We figured there was at least another 30% water, but what the rest was made up of, I can't imagine (or don't want to).

Hello Faith, It is quite obvious by your name that you are a trusting type of person, I admire you for even attempting a Tesco EVJS.Please pardon my use of capitals letters as to spell out the words sends shudders through my body. I once bit into one of Tesco`s EVJS******s and realised what the contents were! Please refer to my original posting where I state what goes into sausages. OK?
By no means do I think I consider myself an expert on sausages but I am ruled by what my system will take and Tesco`s come under the category "Keep the toilet door open" Keep the faith Faith

gotta agree with georgre on this one, proper sausages should have around 70%-80% pork in em at least. try the dunnes ones when you're home. they're good
Sham, stop lying, youd eat sausage flavoured mystery meat and youd like it.
i like sausages of course but after year of mother making sure they were cooked, and i mean welded, i have to say eating them without char on them has never been the same! we barbeque in my house 12 months of the year! haha!
dennys, superquinn and butchers own. with ketchup and brown bread and snippets of seriously good cheese. love brie and sausages! stinky but lovely

Dear DHBH, You must get your house in order as you have a health and safety issue there. It`s obvious with all your barbecued meals indoors you do not have a smoke alarm fitted. This could serve two purposes 1. When the kitchen is on fire and 2. When your meal is cooked.
you are being funny yes george1932?

No Gb deadly serious hand on heart and fingers crossed serious. Your mother must have gone to the same cookery classes as my mom.Her cooking meant I had to pay many visits to the fang butcher to have my teeth straightened realigned and finally removed, I had my first false teeth when I was eleven years old and they were renewed 3 to 5 times a year until I learned to smash the food up prior to eating I often sprained my wrist but that is another story
There was an email sent around work the other day advising people not to use indoor BBQ grills. They sent a picture, and it was in one of the meeting rooms and there was a gas canister beside it too ! BBQ'ing in work, my dream ! Sadly the health and safety people said that they didn't want us to do it :(
George : good stories !
yes stories.
i technically work outside. if only the other door of my cabin wasnt locked i could bbq outside for lunch, im sure they wouldnt mind.

Lol, that couldn't be further from the truth.
I ate it just to see how gross it actually was.

I stand back!! Not only in admiration of your bravery but your honesty:eek:
My cousins girlfriend told me during the weekend that, as a kid she used to eat sausages raw. Yes, raw ! I can only imagine how bad they tasted and how bad they could be for you. At least with cooked sausages you have turned them into something that is a little bit safer for you to eat.
Orna posted a nice recipe here for Honey Baked sausages... http://www.feckthat.com/sex-drugs-rock-roll/5701-recipe-honey-baked-sausages.html
