View Full Version : Call the Gardai?? Would you do it ?
Last night there was lots of noise outside my house. A woman was screaming and a man was shouting at her. It's usually totally silent in my estate especially at night so this was very weird. Then I heard two women talking and shouting and crying and generally sounding very (very) distressed. I was more worried about the woman/women than the disturbance so I rang the gardai and she said she's send out a car. I'm not entirely sure if they came or not but it quietened down after about 15 minutes. I was too scared to look out the window or go out. Would you have called the gardai too? Will my house get burnt down cos I called the gardai?
Uh oh... I'm not staying in your place again ever!
I'd say u did the right thing.... you weren't dreaming by any chance tho...
But where will you go on your holidays so Niamh?
Thanks Osiris... No I was on the way to bed and my housemate heard it too.... unless I am still dreaming. I'm still a bit worried about my house getting torched though.
You don't even know if they sent a car out though so you might be fine. It must have been a bit of a strange feeling ringing the gardai though. Did you dial a local station number or what?
That's the funny part... my local station is Roxboro (you may recognise this from every news report about shootings in Limerick!) I know that my area is covered by Roxboro and not Henry street. It wasn't a strange feeling at all cos I thought someone was going to be murdered on my front door!

i donno prob would of had a loikk out the window 1st,
but yera ya sure better to be safe the sorry i guess in you situation,
pluss it sould be confedental that you rang them anyway so if they did turn up, they would not of told them it was you that rang them
You did the right thing. They're not going to know which house called the police, so I'd say you're safe enough!
Although this is Limerick to be fair so "safe enough" is a relative term!
i agree with faith on this. ive been on in same situation once or twice. put it this way imagine if something did happen and your little call fixed it. you dont want to be one of the liverpool 38
Well all has been quiet since, my house hasn't been torched and there's been no cordoned off areas with chalk marks on the ground in my neighbourhood!
Has anyone ever actually seen an area with the white outline of a body? I, for one, never have. I think I watch too much CSI, though...
There is one on the road to the lough in somebodys house entrance. Its kinda funny. and very well done

its also not done in real life.
You were right to ring the gardai IMHO. If you felt that someone was in danger you might have saved them from getting a thrashing from some guy. Worst case it could have been a misunderstanding, like someone forgot to cook dinner, and it was just some lovers tiff.
Either way the Gardai are there for you. You pay their wages, so don't be afraid to call.
i think you did the right thing too. you'd want someone to call if they heard you in trouble
(DHBH: what's the liverpool 38??)
orna the liverpool 38 and the 38 people who saw jamie bulger kicking and screaming battered and bruised along the streets and parks of liverpool. some of them confronted the captors Jon Venebles and Robert Thompson but they all let them proceed on their way. many of them later changing their testimony in the dock saying that they didnt have as much to do with the boys as the previously said. frought with guilt all these people know they should have done something.
i like reading about this sorta stuff, blows my mind the way other people think. full story here

i though it might be related to a well known incident like that, thanks
fecking hell I'm really glad I called the gardai now. There hasn't been a peep since anyway, just to give an update.
maybe the killed eachother ?!?
Another Murder in Limerick would be splashed over every paper in the country! ...... unless they haven't been found.....
