I have seen the future...and quite frankly, you can keep it. I no longer want to see it. I have no desire for prescience on this level. I no longer wish to sit in the dark, hoping and praying that I am wrong about what I am to experience over the next hour of my life. Because, despite my hopes, I am not wrong...certainly not in this case.
God knows why but someone has decided to make a film about illusion and misdirection that itself lacks both, I certainly don't. Blatantly obvious twists scream from the beginning of the film, painting an unimaginative middle and an obvious ending. And despite hoping that these twists were trying to misdirect me, I am sad to say that the film played out exactly as I had suspected. Clumsy clues give away the ending a mile off (or in this case, approximately an hour off) and while I'd love to say that the journey is more important than the destination, I'd be lying in this case. Despite its quality cast, this film is big letdown. If you're looking for suspense, look elsewhere. If you're looking for eye candy, meh, you could look in worse places. As for myself, I sincerely hope Mr. Caine chooses his film roles more wisely in the future...
