View Full Version : [movie] movie reviews ... what are you watching ?
this week I've seen
"25th Hour" (not worth watching) nothing really happens in the whole film until the last 5 minutes, I hate that !
"Lord of War" (worth watching) good story and the fact that it's based on real life is interesting
"L4yer Cake" (not worth watching) story was hard to follow, I didn't even watch it all.
"Weather Man" (good enough show) shows how things in life somethings are crap no mater what you try to do to change them.
this week i have mostly been watching
* Capote (worth a watch). interesting story but sometimes you want to shake truman capote for being a bitch
* V for Vendetta (really worth a watch) a very original movie and really enjoyed the concept. from dc comics
* Two for the Money (twas grand) a sometimes cheesy movie with matthew mcconaghy and the great al pacino who seems to be loosing his sharp edge. the world of legal gambling. disappointing ending, based on true story
* Waiting (chewing gum but funny chewing gum) a grand laugh. basically focuses on 10 or so people working in a bennigans type restaurant in the states. expect to be forced to be disgusted
Match Point : interesting film, but 2 hours long was a bit much. The pace of the film wasn't great, as in I was a little bored in the middle of it . [link (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416320/)]
Cars.
I loved it.

The New World : It's well pretty looking but the storyline mostly involves people walking around after other people. Bale was nice looking too but it was still yawnworthy. Overall, I'd steer clear tbh.
Cars again, i know lena said to have a look but just to reiterate. really good adult kids movie, a bit long for toddlers but perfect for 20 year olds! "float like a cadilac, sting like a beamer"
The Break Up not such a chick flick but i know fellas that would hate it. i saw it with sham and we both thought twas really good. jeniffer aniston is definitely becoming a force to be reckoned with post friends/brad.
Fell asleep watching Capote , so it can't be that good ;)
The Butterfly Effect is worth watching though. discuss here : 5184
saw crank last night, very, original. people giving it some serious praise and i can see why and unlearned person may think so ;-) but i found it to be just grand. worth the watch but forgettable. and i think main character would have been better as an american.

saw telladega nights(ballad of ricky bobby) durin the weekend, was very funny, well worth a watch but not as great as anchorman.
also saw gattaca on tv the other night, never saw it before and i thought it was brillient, what the movies says about genetics could actually happen in a few years so it made it even better.

saw Dodgeball the other day - the alternate ending is incredible!!
rewatched Strictly Ballroom as well... still lovely :D
I rewatched Dirty Dancing yesterday. I'd forgotten how good it is!
gattaca is fecken excellent in my top ten for definite. is strictly ballroom the one where the ould lad starts the slow clapping and stuff and the crowd joins in?

Tis indeedily! Tis brilliant!
the sentinal is not all thst bad but does feel like it got a bit of too much editing
The I Inside (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0325596/) : quite crap. Not work talking about really. Terrible film 0/5. Stephen Rea (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001653/) in it ... and he's pretty cool

Children of men (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206634/): absolutely brilliant imo. It's worth seeing for the cinematography alone. Definitely one of the best films of the year and not advertised enough as far as I'm concerned. Go see it, people :)

Saw Tristan and Isolde last night and it was gay...so much so that I didn't even bother watching the last 20 minutes - an almost unheard of concept for Jack. I'm so glad I didn't obtain it through legal channels
CoM was brilliant ; ; bit scary though. And I'm not easily scared..

Click funny, fgross, sad... I enjoyed it up and down.
really want to see children of men, saw talladega nights last night. i think Will Ferrel is cashing in a bit too much on slapstick but it wasnt awful
An Inconvenient Truth (http://www.climatecrisis.net/)
Go and see it, it's excellent, and very worrying as well

Hello there,
I am legend- 3/5
Wild hogs - 4.5/5
Die hard - 4/5
I saw Once (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0907657/) over the weekend, it has the guy from the Frames in it Glen Hansard, I thought it was a cool movie. Maybe the ending was a but abrupt, but still it was fun none the less 4/5
havent been to cinema in ages really. surfthechannel.com and Watch Movies Online For Free Full Movie Downloads (http://www.watch-movies.net/) seem to have a lot of stuff on there.
i want to see forgetting sarah marshall coz it looks fun and the new indiana jones should be good oh and iron man. i live across from a cinema but never end up there!

The whole point of the movie is that it's unresolved. It's not supposed to be a traditional movie format of beginning, middle, and ending with all loose ends tied up.
If it had been resolved, it would have ruined most of the charm, IMO.

i saw iron man last weekend, brilliant film. can't wait for the sequal which they actually kinda advertised in the movie, well not in the movie, a bit after the movie. stay till the credits totally end, the lights come on and the cinema staff are asking you to leave. theres a bonus cool hidden scene.

have to agree. fucking fantastic film. a whole pile of us saw it over the bank holiday weekend and everyone was mighty impressed. i'd expected more ac/dc in the soundtrack for some reason though. had been tipped off about the extra scene and it was worth sitting there for. roll on the sequel....
saw street kings last weekend. it's woeful. great cast but it just never quite works. better off sticking to the cop shows etc on fx where they have weeks to run a similar storyline in more detail.
all lined up for the indiana jones film too. having a big work night out for it. who'da thunk, archaeologists going to an indiana jones film......

won't indiana jones be boring for a bunch of archaelogists? itd be like watching a day at the office for ye. get up go to work, find some hiden map, follow it to the treasure, do battle with some nazi's, rescue girl along with treasure, head back to office for cup of tea then home. thats what being an archaelogist is like in my mind anyway.

yup thats exactly what it's like alright. though sometimes someone brings a flask and we can squeeze in a extra cup of tea, battling nazi's is thirsty work, we even have our own little orange line for travelling places, it's the job.

might not be quite long enough for those emergency intercontinental trips though
haha ah funny posts.
i saw iron man and i thought twas so cool. the audi alone in first 15 mins set it up to be cool. next on the hit list is indiana jones and of course sex and the city! since been unemployed i have seen way too much sex and the city on paramount and i think i kinda relate to carrie so i want to see what the blasted woman does next.
First time I read that I though you said you were related to her ! agh !
yes I think I need more sleep (or beer or both).
saw forgetting sarah marshall and have to say its funny. wasnt expecting the full frontal male nudity but sure im not complaining.
russell brand is hilarious in it. its like he has no script and just says what comes to mind.
Matrix the movie first two movies were nice but the last one was another story
