ok so i was bidding for a boxset on ebay and i won it for just under 200euros. so i payed it and then this morning ebay had emailed my saying that the boxset had been taken off because it breached one or more of their rules!!!!

The problem is that i have paid for it. what should i do?!

Faith

Contact the seller and make sure that he/she is still sending it out. You should have proof that you've paid for it, so you're entitled to a refund if that's the case (Or you can go ahead and get it underhandedly like I've done on occasion with things...)

in ur my ebay page you should be able to have options for the item in the drop down after the description, if u mark as not received it will bring you to a part thats something like open dispute with paypal, providing you are using a paypal account that it. i also think theres something on left hand part of myebay page that says something with the word console in it. i think you can do something similar through that menu too.

must have been some size of boxset!

yeah it was 6 seasons. saving about 240euro! according to ebay i never won the item any more. when i go into won items it isn't there!!! even tho i have paid for it according to paypal. i have been onto the sender and they are still going to send it. so fingers crossed!

It was a pirated version, I assume? Because otherwise I can't imagine eBay taking it off. I bought the first 10 episodes of the 2nd season of Lost on there and eBay took it off. Apparently I never won the item either, but the seller still sent it on. It was all good.

Sellers know this is likely to happen, so don't worry.

And now I add a warning: Sometimes the disks don't work. One of mine doesn't:maad:

ebay have finally gotten back to me saying that basically i have no come back from them. and that i have to contact the sender (but that they can't give me their email address due to privacy laws). how wrong is that?

Surely you got an email from eBay when you won the item? This email includes the sellers username. You can look them up and click "ask seller a question" if you need to contact them. Alternatively, just send the seller a message through eBay. Of course eBay aren't going to help you, why would they? It's like ringing up Eircom and telling them the album you downloaded on limewire doesn't work. You have purchased an illegal copy of this box set. eBay don't want to admit that this got onto the site and got all the way to completion before they caught it. That makes them liable to be sued. You're on your own with this one. You'll just have to hope that you got a reputable seller. Otherwise, learn a lesson from this and buy your DVDs legally.

Edit: I also think you got ripped off. You paid nearly €200 for a pirated boxset? It cost the seller about €2 to make. The most I would have paid would be about €100.

osiris
27-02-2006, 03:07
the boxset was bought in hong kong( according to the seller) and is still wrapped in the original packaging. so hopefully everything will be ok. apparently it has been sent out to me on saturday. so i should get it during the week. i wish ebay would just tell me why it was taken off!

Faith
27-02-2006, 04:20
Well, if it's any consolation, it took a week for me to get my disks and they were only sent from Kent to Edinburgh.

It was taken off more than likely because they're copied DVDs. There's no way you'll get an original that cheaply, even on eBay. And that violates copyrights.

They'd still be liable though, even if they have taken the item off their listings. They'll have sent emails to osiris with the item's details so the record of the sale is still there. Plus he used paypal so the record of the transaction exists also. Their ignoring of the problem is rubbish. They allowed the sale to happen, they should have a process in place whereby they help him get his money back if that's what he wants.

i thought mine came through really quickly. cause the seller only sent it on saturday and i got it tuesday! WOO!

Faith

I'm waiting on something from the 22nd of February. From within Britain . If it doesn't arrive tomorrow, the seller is getting an angry message and a bad rating. Especially as I ordered piles of stuff on Saturday and I got it on Tuesday, yesterday and today respectively.

I bought an item on the sunday before last and I still haven't recieved it. I'm not concerned about it because it was ultra cheap, but the fact that 10 days later I still don't have the product is pissing me off. Also, I paid the minute the auction ended by PayPal but I still haven't recieved feedback. Should I email the seller and politely but firmly insist that he gives me feedback? And is such a slow delivery a crime punishable by negative feedback?

Jack B. Badd
06-04-2006, 01:49
Depends on how long he said the delivery should take. I'd contact him and ask for the tracking number of the item (there has to be one because Paypal require that the item be sent by registered post or the equivalent). If its gone over the time he allowed for delivery then I'd let him know you're impatient to get the item - 10 days seems a bit much to be honest. I don't think I'd be too worried about getting feedback until the entire transaction is completed (i.e. you have the item and let him know you're satisfied).

I bought an item over a month ago but because I've been trying to sort out a refund (it's defective) I haven't given or received feedback. Having to go to Paypal to get refunded so when I get my money that guy is getting the bitchiest feedback I can manage!

pablo
06-04-2006, 02:11
yeah, don't be too hasty giving feedback. If you do get it and you have given negative feedback, you yourself might get some too ! Negative feedback is only used as a last resort as far as I know. Once you know you will never get the item then you should give the bad feedback notice.

DHBH
06-04-2006, 05:34
i d say i get feedback for every second item i uy.i think peole dont bother but i always give feedback where i can at least. if its ten days going uk to uk i de would mail them and say just checking with you to see if itam got off okay

Never bought from eBay, but have bought Amazon.co.uk. No probs there. Electrical/electronic stuff I buy from komplett.ie, and cd/dvd's from cdwow.ie (anything not delivered has been replaced without question, but happened only once).

I've bought quite a bit from ebay and never had any problems. But it's annoying having to use paypal, whereas wtith Amazon you can simply give your credit card info.

osiris
08-04-2006, 00:04
Paypal is a really good idea tho coz if things go wrong, and you can't get your money back off the seller, then paypal refunds ya. otherwise you'd be screwed!

Actually that is a very good point. I just wish it was easier to set up a seller's account.

File a complaint with eBay. They go through a process where the seller has to reply. If she doesn't you can claim the money back from your credit card company (or PayPal if you used them). And always check out the sellers history. Most times bad things show up here.

maybe check

You paid €70 for a hair straightners?! I bought a Remington one in the shops for €20 two years ago.

Anywho, I'm afraid you're pretty much fucked. She's no longer registered with eBay. Also, she has absolutely no feedback so she's obviously never used it before. Try contacting PayPal and telling them the dispute isn't working for you. Also, ask here (http://answercentre.ebay.co.uk/forum.jspa?forumID=8002). The link isn't working now, but it should be later.

You can report it to the police. The International Trading board is the best place to start. If you title your thread something like 'problem with seller in England' maybe one of the friendly people there will help you file a police report.

From another site pay pal will only deal with the complaint and refund if you inform them within 30 days. after that the credit card co should refund it.

i filed with paypal there sunday i believe it was. just waiting to see what the seller will respond. id wish id known that if they find in your favour they take a fee of $25 out of your payout like. they tell you that right at end.

i know i can cancel but right now i just want a bit of fairness first.

Do not mess with this man - or his mates ! In Jan this year my brother sold a mobile handset that had never been used on eBay [the place we all love to hate]. The guy paid within 15 mins and lives in XXXX which is about 35 mins up the XXXX from here. Item sent via Royal Mail signed for the next day. Two weeks later this guy states in an email he has never rec'd item. I chase up with Royal Mail who kindly informed me 2 days later the item was rejected and is on it's way back to XXXX. I called the buyer on his landline number I acquired from his eBay details and asked what was going on.

He told me barefaced lies that Royal Mail had never shown up and he had waited long enough. I told him that he signed the form as unrequested parcel and to return to sender. On checking his eBay feedback [17 and 100%] he had purchased the same handset from someone in XXXX [5 miles from XXXX, how lucky ] for a £10.00 +p+p two days after purchasing from my brother. The guy who sold the handset in XXXX had an item for sale and I mailed him asking could I collect & pay & he said yes.

I did so and gained my opportunity to hopefully find out about this guy who bought the mobile from my brother. When I arrived and told him the story he tells me that the guy advised PayPal the goods were damaged and claimed his money back....

semething I came across on another board about ebayOne more Ebay (Paypal) thing to be very careful of:
The Paypal T&C's specifically state that any item paid for by Paypal MUST be sent by an online trackable service. Whether the buyer wants it or not!
The latest UK scam is to pay with Paypal, ask for cheap P&P then open a Paypal complaint stating that "Item has not arrived" (Some even do this within hours of auction end!).
Paypal ask the seller for an online tracking number and if none is given, then the buyer gets a full refund for item and postage - no further questions asked or action available by seller.
Thus leaving the buyer with item and money.I don't know if this is true or not but something to watch I guess.

You frequent other boards, pablo? o_O For shame...

i buy and sell a lot with ebay/paypal and the way i see it its up to buyer/seller to offer/accept what postage they want. in my experience most things i have gotten, big or small were just sent through ordinary post. only problem once and shame of shame i got the straigtener a while back after 2 months in irish postal system!

Just don't use it ???

I've heard that the level of quality of the items on ebay has really dropped this year. I only buy small IT things on it mostly, like USB memory sticks or SD cards for my camera. I've heard of too many people getting 2nd rate goods through it.

here is a funny story I grabbed from another board I read. Be carefull if it's something like furniture, friend of mine got stung to the tune of €500, She bought an antique table but she never checked the dimensions...it arrived and it was for a dolls house...the p&p was €300 alone from hong kong.....just make sure that 42" Plasma is in Inches rather than mm, other than that ebay is the business never pay by bank transfer ot western unuion...your trousers will be removed.. yikes !
