okay so last night i was watching a dvd and when at the end of it my pointing arrow stopped appearing and nothing came up for right or left clicks i just thought i needed to reboot and would deal with today, i closed lid and went to bed.

now today i wake up and start about doing this, started up but the pointer stayed central in screen and right and left clicks were not working. at theis time i noticed that what looks like a mouse pad icon in my active/inactive tray has a red cirlce with line going threw it. im thinking all i need to do is click there d restore or what not.

so ive just been to dixons and got a usb mouse and it works away, i click on this icon with the red circle in it but no description comes up when i hover over it nor does any list generate with a click. my keypad is not locked (Fn + F1) as they guy in dixons was trying to say to me and ive tried even doing that a few time. i then did a 24 hour system restore but the little circle is still there and with or without the usb powered mouse plugged in i can do nothing with mouse pad. if anybody can help id greatly appreciate it!

What make of PC do you have ?
Maybe you need to reinstall some drivers for the mousepad.

No real idea though. If you have the make, do a 'mouse pad problems COMPUTER MODEL'.

Sounds like it'd drain the battery real quick!

not to be too nerdy but USB can only deliver about 110mA and the lights are probably LEDs which need little power.

I didn't know that but nerdiness is always appreciated!

thats the exact one jen, must say its pretty nifty and the lead its on is really cool cos u can "reel" it back in. only thing is all my usb ports are on left hand side so unless i get a desk and an wireless one i wont be using any sort of muse for this

all my usb are on the left but being right handed i've the same problem so pulling around usually gives aload of stretch, esp the apple ones.
hate the track pad as it is really had to use.

found a good way to save on a stand for the computer use a old txt book about 1500 pages raise the key board to a nice typing level and keeps the computer cool

Don't use it on anything soft like a duvet or anything. The fans will be blocked and it'll overheat real quick.

It'll also bugger the laptop!

Hmm, really? How long is too long to leave it on a duvet? Or a bed in general?

Yup, me too. I do most of my work on (in) my bed. I'm in bed right now. I haven't noticed any problems though.

You're joking, right?! A mate of mine knows a girl who totally fecked up a brand new laptop within a matter of weeks by using it on top of her bed covers! The fans can't work properly if they're blocked by a duvet or something and you get massive overheating. If you have to use it in bed put it on top of a large book or a tray or something. I use an atlas for mine and no problems.

Hmm. Well I tend to put it on my lap more, I guess, and usually just balancing on one leg but I'll take your advice and put it on something in future.

I blew mine up doing it. And it was VERY funny when it happend :D But the nice Sony people gave me a replacement power pack adn all was well. Now the bag lickers are telling me that they want to charge me over a gerand for it. They can feck the feck off, and lick my bag.
