iPod Nano stress testing

We've alll heard the rumours and sighs about the iPod Nano being about as strong and durable as a straw from mcdonalds, so when I found this online, I was pleased to say it surprised me, and I'd have one now!!

So rest assured, unless you sit on it, drop it 7 times from a car at various speeds, run over it twice and finally chuck it into the air as high as you can and let it fall onto the ground, you're pretty safe.

I'm beginning to think all those 'reports' were from fat people who sat on them. How dumb do you have to be to sit on one, you wouldn't sit on your Discman, would you!!

Problem is sitting on an ipod (or phone, mp3 player etc) is still very common to pieces of equipment that small so it should still be designed to take it. the main reason it got its reputation for being broken easily is because when they were launching the nano every reporter etc got a free nano and they all saw steve jobs put it in his back pocket so they all followed suit. sure enough they all set down and broke them. apparently theyre getting a return of 1/10 of one percent of all nanos back due to breakage. doesn't sound big but consider how much they sell. thats pretty huge.
