has the forum that had me running to Boole Library this time last year just to see what all the cool people were saying given up or have you all just wandered off to NeverEver land or has it moved away where i havent been told about!
we owe it to the youth to be interesting therefore my question is simply this.......Guinness or Murphys or Beamish Or O'Haras from Cavan!

It's true alright we are significantly quieter than previously. For the moment I have rearranged the forums to reduce the number of forums, in an effort to make it look a bit busier here.

Guinness over Murphy's or Beamish (although I have had the odd drinkable pint of Murphy's I must admit (in Cissie's mainly) but they've been overwhelmed by the recent disgusting one I was given in the Raven). Dunno what that other tack's like.

I'm doing my leaving cert, that's why I'm not here much. And honestly, I think the forum has gotten incredibly boring and has turned into a bit of a dictatorship. If I post something that not everyone will like, it'll more than likely be quietly removed and my opinion rendered invalid. If we can't have free speech on the internet, where can we have it? (And i'm not talking about racist or homophobic comments or anything like that, i just mean in general.) Feckthat.com is a completely different place to the freak fm forum I joined 2 and a half years ago. The freak fm forum (a sub forum of eirjobs, at the time) was exciting and busy and interesting and funny. There was always some bizarre conversation to join in to, or some huge debate to get involved in. Now feckthat is just boring and serious. This forum used be called Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll, which sounds interesting and fun. "Miscellaneous and random chat" isn't the more endearing name...

here here faith well said. yeah what is with the lack of the lounge, sex drugs rock'n'roll and where the hell is musica gone. ive just moved back to cork like and have def noticed that this forum has lost its connection.

i have just noticed since ya said it the music forum is gone. freakfm forum is fairly good at the moment with hundreds of posts per day at the moment but i bet it too will die down in time,people just get sick of things especially in a smallish place like cork.
but like i said before theres nothing realy connected to this place anymore freakfm has the radio station connected to it which i'd say is mostly the reason its forum is so busy.

First thing the history lesson:
We helped out chris @ freakfm at one stage when his radio station was getting up and running. After a bit (a year or two, they decided to go alone).

Things have changed here alright, but change is necessary. If we didn't change we would still be on UBB with some of those lovely color schemes thought up by ferg (http://www.feckthat.com/rant/member.php?u=623). But we changed. We moved to a new domain away from eirjobs.com. We have lots of nice new features like you can get an email address with us and upload your avatar & picture, if you want to pay a fee for this.

We've also had problems. One or two people in particular have tried on a number of ocassions to bring us down (posting inflamatory stuff about us on other websites check www.paterachat.com for 1 example). These people have endeavoured to upset people on this forum and are hell bent on re-registering and continuing their efforts. We've had numerous hack attempts, server problems, financial problems etc. But we are still here.

I'm no longer in Ireland so it's not that easy for me to check things or to post things that relate to Cork as much as I used to. Other people who help out (ciarán and the evil belly) are busier than they used to be. But I think that we still do a good job. The idea of moderating topics is a hard topic, as what we see fit to moderate and you think is surely different. But I don't think that a significant number of threads have been edited, besides the ones from Nightcrawler & gang.

At the end of the day a place like this needs people to post. And since the before the summer there has been a significant drop in the number of new posts for one reason or another. By decreasing the number of forums the place "seems" busier, and it looks more inviting for new people.

We are not a "chat" forum. There is no point in keeping posts that is simply idle chit chat between people, as no one besides the people envloved are interested in reading this. These types of posts just clog up our space on the server. But discussions like "how can deaf people lip read" are a little more stimulating for people, and perhaps when someone does a search on google they will see and join us for a discussion.

I'm not going to say, well if you don't like this place then leave, so I would like to ask you for your suggestions and ideas and your patience in trying to improve this place.
