View Full Version : Repeating the Leaving
It's a sad state of affairs that in June I already know I'm going to be repeating my leaving cert next year or the year after.
No, ladies and gentlemen, this isn't pure pessismism, this is hard fact as I can't sit the leving this year due to bad illness all year and a stay in hospital for the last two weeks that's left me unable to sit upright in a chair.
Has anyone here repeated? Is it the soul sucking nightmare I envision it to be?
Where did you repeat?
Oh yucky. So you've to repeat it with out having sat english and stuff so you have to do all the required subjects again next year. That is nasty. (Or at least it was in my day when the course changed every year and so you had to learn a new play, new novel and stuff. It might not be so bad with the new course...)
Sorry to hear you were ick. Get better soon.
Places to do repeats :
Bruce , great place apparently if you are very 'results' driven
The College of Commerce,
ABC , i don't know if they still do it.
Deerpark school take people , but I think that is only for lads
You can always get on to the dept. of education and ask them what schools accept repeat students in your area [http://www.education.ie/]. Your own school might let you repeat also. Also a quick look at the golden pages might be a good idea.
Surely your own school will take you? Especially when you aren't really able to sit the exams this year.

deerpark take the womens too, my friend elaine did it there a few years back
oh god that's awful, sorry :(
one of my friends repeated the leaving in the college of commerce, and he got 450 points when he repeated, compared to 290 when he did the leaving first time! he's strongly recommended it to anyone considering repeating ever since, the teachers there are great etc.
Well, I'm actually in Bruce College at the moment, well, when i go occasionally. lol went there beccause my condition which kept me out through fifth year was supposedly calmed down. It wasn't, now I'm back to square one.
I hate it there, so I'm not wasting another five grand, and i'm not putting myself through it again.
I'm thinking College of Com is most likely, from what I hear it has less of a school feel to it, more of a college thing? Cos I can't take school again :/
Bruce is €5,000 ? wow, maybe I could set up my own school with a few of my mates and cram 40 people in my bedroom and make a bit of money out of it.
Bruce is alot of stress, and the pressures that the teachers and the parents transfer to the students can be over whelming.
and they stifle any bit of individualism, creativity and self esteem you might have until you're a quivering wreck sitting in a school desk, with your pen glued to your hand, writing, writing, writing, until you don't even know what you're saying....

the only difference between this and every other school in the country then is the aforementioned €5000... ;)
