btw ruth.....is it true you are touring with final four aswell?? :)

MICKEY HARTE won the first series of "You're A Star" and sung "We've Got The World" for Ireland in Latvia, finishing in 11th place. The single spent five weeks atop the Irish Top 30 in the build-up to Eurovision. The Donegal man's massive popularity ensured that his debut album also topped the Irish charts and it went quadruple platinum, yielding two other chart hits. International success has unfortunately eluded Mickey so far.

SIMON CASEY was the runner-up to Harte, but was the first to top the Irish chart when his potential Eurovision song "A Better Plan" spent three weeks at number one in April. That was the first of three hit singles for the popular Offaly man, and his debut album also sold well when released in November. Casey also worked with "You're A Star" judge Phil Coulter, proving the lead vocal for the Irish Rugby team's hit single "Ireland's Call".

MICHAEL LEONARD finished 3rd in the first series of "You're A Star" and has had a pretty low profile since being eliminated from the show back in March. He has chosen to concentrate on his songwriting and recently had one of his songs covered by Westlife and has also had interest from Ronan Keating and others. Those interested in gossip might be interested to know that Michael has been dated fellow "You're A Star" finalist Sarah Brophy.

http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/michaelleonard.jpg

LISA BRESNAN was the favourite of this website, but ended up finishing 4th with the lovely ballad "I'll Still Be Right Here". Despite rave reviews in the press, Lisa chose to temporarily turn her back on the music industry and concentrate on finishing her studies to qualify as a teacher. However during the summer Lisa recorded a number of demo tracks, and is now managed by former "You're A Star" judge Darren Smith, so expect to hear from her again.

http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/lisabresnan.jpg

BRIAN ORMOND seems destined to be the bridesmaid in television talent searches. Having missed out on making the Irish "Popstars" group Six (probably a good thing in retrospect), Brian also just failed to make the final four in "You're A Star". He then went on to reach the finals in the second series of "Pop Idol" in the U.K. He was then part of the Idols group that reached the Xmas Top 5 in the UK with a cover of John Lennon's ""Happy Christmas (War Is Over)".

http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/brianormond.jpg

SHAUNA AND CAOIMHE McELHINNEY caused much debate during the first series of "You're A Star". The then 16 year old Cork girls received some critical reviews from the judges but became a favourite of many with their charm and enthusiasm. Being so young it's perhaps no surprise that we haven't heard much for them since the show, however they are still managing to fit in some musical engagements while continuing to study for their Leaving Cert.

http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/twins.jpg

SARAH BROPHY was also from Cork and earned many admirers as the most improved singer over the run of "You're A Star". Despite only finishing 7th in the competition, Sarah got to go to Latvia as one of Mickey Harte's backing singers and she made many friends during Eurovision week. Her younger sister Laura followed in Sarah's footsteps and entered the second series of "You're A Star" in Waterford.

http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/sarah.jpg

JOANNE FAHY had previously worked full-time as a singer in Bunratty Castle in county Clare before making the finals of the first series of "You're A Star". Since being eliminated, little has been heard from Joanne as she has decided to take some time out from music and now works in Public Relations in Dingle in county Kerry. However it's reported that Joanne intends to return to music and re-launch her singing career in the near future.

http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/joannefahy.jpg

CATHERINE YORE seems to have followed a similar path to that of fellow finalist Lisa Bresnan. At the time of performing in "You're A Star" in early 2003, Catherine was training to be a teacher in St.Patrick's College in Drumcondra on Dublin's northside. She is now in her second year of that course but she continues to spend her spare time gigging around the country and recording some songs.

http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/catherine.jpg

SUSAN McFADDEN was one of the more controversial finalists having only got her place thanks to being given the "wildcard" of her sister-in-law Kerry McFadden, sister of Westlife's Bryan. There is however little doubt that her later performances showed that she merited her place. Susan has now concentrated on musical theatre and pantomime. She is reported not to have an interest in following her family into the pop charts and intends to pursue a career on stage.

http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/susanmcfadden.jpg

AZI JEGBEFUME was unfortunate to be eliminated in the early stages of series one of "You're A Star". The popular Tallaght girl looked to have the potential to do a lot better and could have made a very interesting Eurovision performer for Ireland. Azi has now left this country to work in London with Ed Case, the man responsible for popular UK R'n'B trio Mis-teeq. Expect to see her launch her career later in 2004.

http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/azij.jpg

SUSAN McGOWAN from Athlone had like Brian Ormond and Lisa Bresnan, missed out on making the Irish "Popstars" group Six and had then turned her talent to "You're A Star". Following her elimination from the show, Susan teamed up with fellow unsuccessful finalists Sarah Brophy and Catriona McGinty to form the group Sweet Charity, which provided the atractive backing vocals for Mickey Harte at Eurovision.

http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/susanmcgowan2.jpg

CATRONIA McGINTY made a fleeting visit to the "You're A Star" finals. Having been eliminated from an earlier heat, she earned Phil Coulter's wildcard, however she fell at the first hurdle and few now remember her. She is the third member of Sweet Charity who went to Latvia and spent the summer working with Phil Coulter on his television series. Phil takes his show on the road in early 2004, and Sweet Charity will be part of that tour. http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/catroina.jpg

Please, please learn to type in English people! Honest to God now, typos or whatever we'll get over and fair enough my punctuation is usually all over the shop but if ye'd just make a minor effort it really would be much appreciated.
(And they take lots of marks off in the Junior Cert for writing in text speak so it'd be as well for ye to get into the swing of it now)

Faith

It's useless, Neenee, they'll never learn. It's best to just avoid the forum altogether!

But it's the only forum where people are actually muppetty enough (see we'll even allow ye to make up new words people!) to rise to my comments. I don't have half as much fun anywhere else.

Maybe because some people here are not native english speakers and understanding the type of english used can be a bit of a stretch at times. It is a fair enough point.

This is a message board and not a mobile phone. :D

I'm sure it must be hard to get out of the habit of text-speak-typing but these last few posts have shown ye can do it kids (and again before anyone jumps down my throat I don't mean that in a "yer really young" kind of way..it's just what I say.)
