I was wondering if anyone could tell me...is there a swing dancing scene in Cork at all? I know Dublin has some places to go, but I'm not going to just go there everytime I want to swing dance...that's just not going to work for me. I'm sure I won't be able to do it as much as I do here at home (once a week with my college's club) but if there is somewhere not too far, either from UCC or the Leeside Apartments...that would totally make my day and my stay. I guess if there isn't anything it'll be greater incentive to join the million and one other activitites that looked interesting.

c'mon...surely someone knows if there is any place to swing dance in the Cork area?
Wasn't dancing in Ireland banned in the early 1980's due to the amount of people injuring themselves on the dance floor ?

That's the first I'd heard..its possible I supposed...but if it remained so, I doubt that the Dublin Swing Kids site that I found would exist
what is swing ? Are the people who do this dance called "swingers" ? There is an irish site you can check out http://www.irish-swingers.com/

Umm...I think sometimes the dancers are called swingers, but the site you included.... that's a different type of swinger than what I'm referring to. Swing Dancing is something that originated in the US in the 20s and 30s...its a dance that takes many forms- Charleston, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Shag, Jive, etc....the one site related to it in Ireland that I've found so far is http://gofree.indigo.ie/~swingit/
