7 points ? What a joke ! Actually you can't really count them as they are from our nearest neighbours (UK). Its the typical thing to do, an act of friendship.

After listening to the act last night you could clearly see that there was something lacking. The backing vocals weren't up to standard. And poor old chris missed a few notes in his song.

If you compare the act to the other acts you will certainly see the difference. Coming joint 3rd last on 7 points is clearly a dissapointment. Chris looked a bit stunned on stage with all the lights. The whole trying to get him to do some actions didn't really come off either.

Of the acts I was most surprised about Germany, normally they have some weird guy like Guildo Horn, but this year it was actually rather funny. Their nieighbours , the Austrians were just like a feeble boy band.

well i think that they did well i mean they have nothing to be ashamed about but its really hard to compete against entries like the ukraine one which was good i thought! The eurovision doesn't want ballads anymore!!

Not trying to put down chris doran or anything but we deserved what we got

I think Chris has definate talent, but he and the song were not suited to Eurovision at all. They want things with a strong beat that people can dance manically to!

Ukraine - 232 points
Ireland - 7 points

Think that counts as losing miserably!!! Especially since all 7 points were from the UK

That's the end of Eurostar/ You're a Star. The public can't be trusted and neither can the judges of the show.
I seem to remember Louis singing the praises of Chris - in fact, wasn't Chris Louis' wild card. Even Phil's wild card Final 4, who seemed to be a lot more comfortable on stage, couldn't help him.

I thought Chris looked very nervous and coming after another ballad didn't help.

I think that Jean Elliot would have done a lot better. Then again, had Killerbane won, we could have ended with the dreaded nul points.

Chris didn't look nervous at all.He was calm &relaxed & oozed confidence.
And as for the singing,it was superb-no way out of tune

if they were so amazing why did they only get 7 points??? i think thats the point thats being made here.

and what actions????

There's no point in entering a competition unless you want to at least try and win.

Ah Orna you must have noticed the really really bad actions on the word "stop". it was superbly bad so it was.

Yeah their performance was good just cos
they weren't as tacky as the other countries.
That song was the song they were given
&there's no more they could have done with it.

I saw a repeat of Nationwide last night, and Chris was interviewed on it. He basically said he did the best with what he was given. And he felt sorry if he had left anyone/Ireland down, with the performance, but he was saying that it was more the song he was given than anything.

Then they showed him singing in some GAA pitch, it was all a bit weird to be watching at 2am last night.

Do you honestly actually think they performed well? Now, in fairness I'm not giving out about him being nervous or anything, that's fair enough, but can you not admit that he actually didn't sing particularly well?

It's a turn of phrase oh-tetchiness, and to be honest you're probably at least five years younger than me, which would make you a realtive kid in my lingo I'm afraid.

sharonlvsmartin
27-05-2004, 15:55
WELL DONT JUST ASSUME YOU KNOW MY AGE BECAUSE YOU DONT!and anyway wheteher im a "kid "or not my opinion still counts

neenee
27-05-2004, 16:09
I never said your opinion didn't count. In fact I believe what I said pretty much implied that I feel you can think whatever you like, I just happen to disagree.

And there's no need to shout. (You'd think you'd know better at you age...)

Now getting back to these SEVEN points that Chris won ...

but we all know 3 is the magic number. sing it with me "cos three it's the magic number"

Faith
27-05-2004, 19:53
I'm angry at 3 at the moment. I got a ticket for a raffle that was number 373, and I thought it was a sure winner. I didn't win.

the evil belly

there's no such thing as a sure thing (unless you want the drunken kev thats asleep on my couch)

the evil belly

Ah, Sham, what did you do to him now? Honestly!

;)
nothing i swear but i am considering shooting him in the knee with the pellet gun here on my desk. bloody thing hurts like hell when you get shot with it. he finished his exams today and went and got drunk and then called here gonna make him pay later when the hangover kicks in

Faith
27-05-2004, 20:12
Seamus, do I have to send you to your room? What did I tell you about not shooting people? It's not big and it's not funny!

But let me know how it goes ;)

the evil belly
27-05-2004, 20:16
Seamus, do I have to send you to your room?
i'm actually in my room. my room is all comfy with a stereo, tv, laptop and couch. it's where i spend most of my time

It's not big and it's not funny!
eh you sure you not thinking of a stupid dwarf?

Faith
27-05-2004, 20:29
Okay, go for it and when he wakes up, tell him it was a fly.

the evil belly
27-05-2004, 20:34
well i've shot him twice now and i've gotten no reaction. shot him in in the eye by accident once. was shooting my lampshade and he got a rickoshea(i know i can't spell) in they eye. wasn't funny at the time but he can still see so it's all good

Faith
27-05-2004, 20:46

goin off topic......................
and your point would be?

Is he... dead? Because if you've killed him, move the body quickly!
kev's not dead. he sobered up and complained of a headache for ages. would have been a pain to kill him on a thursday they collect my bin on a wednesday so he'd be stinking by next week but on the plus side there would be plenty of room in the bin.

neenee
28-05-2004, 13:30
I have to admit I'm with Sharonlvswhatshisface on this one...I'm not seeing the connection here people.
Unless Kev was after seven pints that is. Then it'd be a perfectly acceptable diversion. :D

the evil belly
28-05-2004, 13:58
i think he had six or so but i'm not too sure

neenee
28-05-2004, 14:03
Well, six or so is fairly close to seven so we'll let it go.

ciaran
28-05-2004, 14:09
Did he get them all from the UK?

the evil belly
28-05-2004, 14:12
he did get them all from the same bar if that counts

neenee
28-05-2004, 14:38
Yeah, I definitely think we have an acceptable analogy. (By the way, at any point in the night did he attempt to sing?)

Faith
28-05-2004, 14:45
Or maybe Sham could have shot him in 7 different points of his body. That would also be on topic.

the evil belly
28-05-2004, 14:46
he knows better i'd smack him if he was singing. he mainly just slept on my couch for a few hours and then came to tescos and for kebabs then complained of a headache. moany bastard

neenee
28-05-2004, 14:48
That's a very good point f8.

the evil belly
28-05-2004, 14:50
okay i'll shoot him a few more times when i see him later and that'll reinforce the topic

Just out of curiousity, which particular girl with the harp are you talking about?

orna

mairead
31-05-2004, 13:07
She was actually american. From new york with Isish parents and she flew over especially to take part in You're a star! Didn't get passed the 1st round though. She sang U2's with or without you (with a harp!) How do I know all this?

orna
31-05-2004, 13:31
ahh, i remember now. yes worrying why you know all this mairead!
