My tae kwon do instructor came back from the states yesterday and the shit they were doing over there. he saw a man so younger than 70 get a full twenty minute interrigation because he wouldnt remove his belt whilst goin through the metal detectors all this in front of his family whom he was saying goodbye to who were than told not to stand too close to the metal detectors (they were fifty yards away) who were showing obvious concern for this man. they then confiscated 9 out of 11 lighters which his wife bought and drained the two they gave back. why couldnt they drain the other nine? and since when do old age pensioners become americas most wanted? where have their ethics gone? i'll tell you where, out the fucking window... its almost as bad as the irish/libyian who spent 9 days in an mexican jail because he had a libyian passport. its official. i now HATE america and just about everything about it. the place actually sickens me.

i guess in retrospect its a good thing, but seriously they take it too far sometimes.

my mom set off the metal detectors when we were flying home from america this summer. it was the buttons on her dress but they still had her frisked and the whole works and my sister and i were just standing there. they watched her empty all her pockets and take off her shoes etc. it was two bloody buttons for god's sake.
i was coming back from prague wearing new rocks, the security guard took one look at me and waved me thru! i had a knife on me and everything!

sham ya legend.. i was going to itlay anf my mate had to take off her new rocks i had my bag serched and i must say its like the most degrading thing ever...
i was in americaand my niece got checked shes only 3 i mean come on do my folks, family and i look any way criminal? its only procedure but stil.
the guns stil scare me tho..
i watched bowling for columbine last night, a documentary made by michael moore. It was fairly freeky to hear that there are over 11 thousands deaths each year due to fire arms, and in canada where there are 7 million fire arms for 10 million people they only had 150 deaths. The film would certainly make you think about going to america to live for awhile.
I don't mind the searches and security at airports don't people realise its for your own safety. Seeing as some psycho people would actually use their kids to bring on weapons and bombs , checking kids isn't that much of ordinary.
Cemetary : the whole idea of bringing a bomb onboard is that you'll get away with it and therefore you wouldn't "look" like a criminal or in any way suspicious. The mentality that all arabs or people from the middle east are bombers, is just stupidity.
I can tell ya, the security is ridiculous. Not only that, but they are SO rude. I went through more metal detectors in the past week than I had in my entire life. Immagration was awful. We had to go through metal detectors:
1) Getting onto the plane
2) Going to Ellis Island (Come on, it's just an island with a museum)
3) Going to a taping of a Carson DAly show in NBC
4) Going up the Empire State Building
5) in JFK, coming home
And others I can't remember. The were all so rude, it was unbelievable. It just makes you want to knee them in the balls or something. Puts a damper on the whole trip.

I remember when I was in crete the police at the air port had nice big machine guns…..was like cool! Then on the way back the was some English fella getting dragged though the airport buy them legs trailing behind him and everything and put on the 1st flight out.
In the little town we where staying in 2 days after we left some diplomat r something along those lines got blown up in a car bomb. Some funky shit happens over there if you get talking to the ppl who live there your head will be pulled out of the clouds fast.
p.s hehe I think I should go into pr 4 crete
1) Getting onto the plane

Nothing new there, there have always been security checks before a plane
2) Going to Ellis Island (Come on, it's just an island with a museum)
3) Going to a taping of a Carson DAly show in NBC
4) Going up the Empire State Building
All of these are soft targets the exact type of targets Al'Qaeda is now looking for. If you been watching that BBC show on Tuesdays they've shown recon tapes from captured Al'Qaeda operatives who were scouting DisneyWorld and the Christmas festival in Strasbourg or somewhere. These guys would love to kill families and tourists. Makes better TV
And others I can't remember. The were all so rude, it was unbelievable. It just makes you want to knee them in the balls or something. Puts a damper on the whole trip. They made me take off my belt for the Empire State Building, inconvience Yes but I'm not going to complain too much. Much more preferable to a suicide bomber getting through.

They made me take off my belt
how about doing it to a 70 year old man?
I am an Irish person living in America, I totally agree that Americans are paranoid. However you have to agree that it is within reason if thousands of Irish civilians were innocently murdered then I think we would be paranoid also , and angry.
Big whoop if they took off your belt - its a small sacrifice to pay for security. When I came back to America after Christmas , I was waiting in the airport in Atlanta for an hour and a half to go through security. Everyone had to do it and it was for our own safety. You arent going to achieve anything by mouthing off or being cheeky to the security officials
Granted, it's understandable and fair as to why they do it, but there's no reason for them to be so rude about it. I think it's a problem that no-one actually says "Say please and thanks" to them. It's basic, common manners, their job isn't exactly taxing (Compared to most others) and it wouldn't kill them to be polite. Twould Put others in a better mood too (And theoretically, make them less likely to detonate a bomb!)
But, just thinking now (In the mind of a criminal):
A) When you're going to Ellis Island, detonating a bomb attached to yourself before you even got to the metal detectors before the boat, you'd probably kill a lot more people TBH. There's hundreds, milling around, just waiting.
B) If you're somewhere like NBC or the Empire State Building, you can go for ages before you reach metal detectors. Detonating the bomb on a lower floor would kill everyone, and bring the building collapsing in on itself.
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe there's laws of physics preventing it, but that's how it seems.
(God, I Hope terrorists don't monitor this board!)
Exactly the mind of a terrorist isn't that of a criminal. They never intended to knock down the twin towers. That was a (un)fortunate consequence. What they want are the Kodak moments. The top of the Empire State Building on fire with a hole in the side of it makes better TV, than a bit of smoke milling around the lobby.
Was it? What did they want to do originally?
DISCLAIMER: my previous post is in not way an indication of my plot to attack America, just in case anyone is a bit too imaginative. I love all things American. Seriously. I had to train myself out of talking with an American accent after the amount of TV i watched growing up.
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe there's laws of physics preventing it, but that's how it seems. you'd have to be quite a weight lifter to carry that ammount. The guys used a van in Oklahoma bombing.
Many americans just seem to react that little bit too quick to things. (that was a nice sweeping generalisation)

eh not many people know this due to good old american propaganda but there was originally a plan to highjack up to 20 planes for various targets in the US but the number was brought down significantly by "public enemy number 1" Osama bin Laden under direct orders. he didnt hear about the plan until 2 weeks before it happened but he brought the number down (believe it or not) because he thought the death count would be too high. believe it or not but the man has some (not much) moral decency. originally though Al Kaeda wanted to cause as much destruction as possible but the act of 911 was all that was needed.
Their gone mad over here in Wales and the U.K. in general too.
This time last year i could just walk into the departures terminal and now they've got every kind of metal detector whizzing round you before you get on the plane...Still though the positive side was talking to police officers about using their MP5's...."Go on...Flick the switch to full-auto...go on go on go on go on"
