There is the whole thing at the moment where the muslims in France won't be able to wear their head dresses. Link to an article (http://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/18/international/europe/18FRAN.html?ex=1075006800&en=b15da1563155582a&ei=5062&partner=GOOGLE) if you haven't heard about it.

Personally I think they should be allowed to wear what they want when they want.

from what it says on the news i agree with the french. its only in state schools and some other state places they can't display any religious things, like a christian can't have a big cross around his/her neck. its not just muslims they are after. they can wear what they want in public.

plus if any woman went to a muslim country and wore shorts and a bikini top don't they go mental(i think, not sure on this). if they are in a non muslim country they should obey the countries rules.

But the point is that there are no rules against wearing headscarves in France in general. I wonder what would happen if Christian girls started wearing scarves to school?

as far as i understand what the french are doin they would do nothing against a christian or muslim girl wearing a decorative scarf to school, its only if all the girls wore similar scarves as a religious thing they would be stopped. its only in state buildings and state schools, they can do what they want on the street or in non state schools.
when in non muslim countries they should obey the rules and stop complaning because they don't agree with the rules they don't like.

But supposing a Muslim girl and a Christian girl claim that actually these white plain scarves are really fashionable at the minute and go really well with my outfit so can i wear it plese? Are they going to allow one and not the other? Presumably it's not a religious symbol to the Christian girl after all.

i was actually thinking that. cause scarves are quite stylish as well as religious, it is a tricky law the french want to bring in. but then when has a full head wrap around head scarf been popular in women under 60 unless for religious reasons.
