I have a Ready to Go Nokia 3310 on Vodafone, and I want to upgrade to a Nokia 3200, 3100 or 5100 (they're the main ones, anyway!). The problem is upgrading Ready to Go phones is so expensive (around €200), and I can't afford that. But if my dad were to go into a Vodafone store and "Upgrade his phone" to one of those models, then give the phone to me while keeping his original, would my SIM card work on the bill phone? Does it make any difference, except I get no free credit?
Sure it would work.
All vodafone SIM's will work in vodafone phones. Its actually a handy enough way to get a new phone.
The 3200 are pretty funky , they have a little torch, a radio, loudspeaker phone and many other cool features.

it'll definitly work but your dad will have to be eliglbile for an upgrade. you can check that online. if he's not you'll be paying sim free prices
Also, if you have and probs witht eh phone or want ot get it unlocked you;ll have to send your dad in to sort it out, vodafone treats the phone as still belonging to your dad.

How do I check online if he's eligible?
http://www.vodafone.ie/ register you dad for that site and there should be a link lying around once he/you logs in , saying that you can check if you are eligible for an upgrade.
bill phones are not nessesearily unlocked when you get em, they're usually network locked.
it's not every year your dad's entitled to an ungrade, there's a certain amount of money should go through your phone bill each month, eg. my dad got an upgrade last May (for me) and this month (for my cheap and lazy sister who pays for nothing)

it's ok tree she's on the same network as her dad and regardless of money u can upgrade each year

Not always, Vodafone wouldnt let my dad upgrade after a year without spending a certain amount on bills

Indeed this is true it depends on how much you spend on yon bills each month. my aunt spends an unholy amount so she gets to upgrade practically every six months, she's unreral, and for some reason they always give her two phones, like buy a 3510 get a 3310 for €20 (she did).

Hey,
I just saw your add, there is no problem with using ur sim in a bill phone once it is a vodafone phone that you get.
I also saw your other add yesterday, about a job in france, we are in IT Tralee, and we are looking for work in france too, so our lecturer is helping us, and when we get our contacts for france i can send them to you.

Cool, thanks!
Okay, I bought a 3 month old 3510i off a friend of mine on Friday, but have since decided I actually don't want it. It retailes at about €179, I think, and I paid €100 for it, which is what I want to sell it off as. The phone is in perfect condition, 3 months old, and I can provide a charger, but not the instructions (it's a really easy to use phone). If anyone is interested, PM me!
