did anyone see the news last night with the footage of the riot and the gardai kicking the living shit out of people after they (the gardai) removed their id numbers from their uniforms. there's been a wierd feeling in the city since those 2 gardai were killed a few weeks back with lots more gardai visible and taking no shit. i saw a van load of the drag a load of people out of supermacs on monday night about 11. things are only going to get worse cos there's a march on pearse street garda station tomorrow night to protext at police brutality. i say the poor bastards will get beaten up again
i think people should live in fear of the gardaí
crime in ireland is on the increase and the gardaí have a hard
time restoring law and order. i'm sure the guardaí probably
knew half of these people anyways .

thats still no excuse for removing their id numbers. the gardai are meant to be to uphold the law and keep the peace. the id numbers make them accountable in a situation like that and the removal of them is a crime while a garda is on duty

Hummm I think they should search people on the street and if some one is found to have a knife or some thing on them then they should have seven shades of shit beat out of them!!!!!!!

i agree with that anyone who brings a weapon to a peaceful protest should be punished. not sure if having the shit kicked out of them is the way to do it but something needs to be done. also we need a definition of what a knife is(i know it sounds stupid) but i nearly always carry a small pocket knife cos u never know when it''ll be handy but i'm talking about one with a tiny blade maybe an inch or so

Justice Minister John O'Donoghue's called for a full investigation into the incidents, vowing to get to the bottom of it. Breath not being held.
There was the Reclaim the Streets rally in Duberlin last year when cyclists were beaten off the streets (O'Connell Bridge/D'Olier Street?) for "refusing to clear the highway". Tolerance is a great thing.
