View Full Version : kino, cork
Just wonderin' if anyone has ever been (by choice) to Cork's "Kino" cinema. I've been once to some crappy german subtitled thing- with school, and was just wonderin' if they ever get any good movies???? Or are they just the rejected films that don't make it into the cinema?
I saw Crash there and Pi, both brilliant films. Many of the films aren't as commerical alright, but no way less worthy of being watched.
Kino ist Kull .

I didn't see it but there was some film there recently (can't remember what it was called), an animé, and it had won an oscar at this years oscars for best animation, so it's not al bad.
I meant to go see spellbound while it was there but I didn't, damn. It was supposed to be brilliant. I must get it out on video when it comes out.

For the animé,I'd say you're thinking of "Spirited Away".
Seemed good.Sadly, missed it but there's always the DVD!
I saw Astrix and Oblix the movie there, subtitled, and it was SO funny!!! I went with school, and most people weren't paying enough attention to get the jokes and references, but myself and Cockatrice were on the floor laughing.

I really love the Kino, though I don't get to go there quite as often as I would like. The first movie I saw there was Brotherhood of the Wolf, so I guess I didn't have much choice but to fall in love with the place!:D I saw Avalon there a while back, and I thought it was fantastic. My first Polish film too. Man I feel sooo cosmopolitan...:p

yeah its a pretty cool place, really laid back and stuf, tiny but nice :)
I'm going there on Monday with my English class to see Witness. Should be fun.
I love the Kino, they get in some excellent independent movies.
