View Full Version : Pirates Of The Caribbean
The last few years have not been too kind to pirate films, but this film wants to buck this trend. And I'm happy to say that it does just that, it's also a good change of pace from the other Summer blockbusters. The end of the world isn't a very fun subject(Terminator,Matrix). I must admit when I first heard of a film based on a theme park ride i didn't think it could make for an enjoyable story but it did. The cast is good, the story is good, the action comes thick and fast and the Special FX are excellent.
The story is that of a cursed ship and its crew(The Black Pearl) and the only way to lift the curse is by returning an Aztec coin to its chest. However the coin is now in the possession of Elizabeth Swan(Keira Knightley), the British Govenors daughter. So the crew of the BLack Pearl kidnap her, step up the heroes-blacksmith Will Turner(Orlando Bloom) and pirate Jack Sparrow(Johnny Depp).
The film is full of action with great set-pieces. The characters are likeable especially Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow who is like a long lost member of the Rolling Stones. This blockbuster has an element of fun all the way through unlike others(Hulk), its pure escapism and pure fun. And it gets my vote as best Blockbuster of the Summer

yes this is a truely great film, saw it a few weeks ago just cause i was bored and it was one of the new releases i hadn't seen. i wasn't expecting much but what the film gave was fantastic, Depp is great. it really is pure fun and entertaining. stop reading this and go see it now.

depp is so funny in that movie, and they are planning a sequal. hope its a good one and not just a cash in since this one did so good.

I liked that film a lot... bless, Johnny Depp, and Bless Orlando Bloom and all sexiness that goes with them and their lovelyness...
well I saw it , and I thought that some of the jokes were really funny with some origional jokes and gags , great acting.

yar, i am guybrush :) and i be one of the fiercest insult swordfighters in the whole of 7 seas..... and im also not to bad at Monkey Insult Wrestling neither :)
i thought that Johnny Depp really stole the show in Pirates of the Caribbean he was funny and not too bad looking either. 4 an actor who we all thought had his best yrs over he has certainly surprized us.

I didn't think Johnny Depp's best days were over. THis is the only blockbuster he's ever been in. All his other films have been either weird and good or weird and cult-y. He rocks.
And who thought Orlando Bloom looked like Robin Hood at the end of the film?
