11 euro to see some local cork bands!!!! thats a bit much.
what happened to 4 euro a gig, even if it is to see a lot of bands 11e is expensive.

I don't think Baby in a Blender shall be playing.
On a side not 11 eurons is a bit steep for that gig, I would much rather go to a pub and spend €4 to see one good band than 11 to see 7 mediocre bands.
When you think about it, €11 isn't that expensive. People pay €70 to go to Slane, with €30 or more for transport, and they don't see anything wrong with it. And that's in another county, wheres Blast is in a central location, with easy access, and local bands who really need the support.
i dont think silence jakk are playing, debi said they might do the anti blast gig.

doesn't exactly make ya feel old, just older than you used to be and gives you the sense that you are getting older when a place is full of 14-18 year olds.

the place is more often full of 12 to 15 year olds
Yes, Blast is only ever on in the Half Moon. The Attic gigs are seperate.
Blast is on a Sunday afternoon because most people are free then, so it attracts larger crowds. Under 18s get to do something different, while O-18s can still go out that night.
Blast is an ALL- AGES gig, meaning it's aimed at ALL AGES. IT's just that over 18s seem to think that they're too good to see unknown bands playing.
The tickets cost €10/ 11 because the Half Moon is so expensive to rent. The bands have to be paid, the staff have to be paid, and Rob has to make some profit. THe organisers hate the fact that it's so expensive, but there's nothing they can do about it.
Baby in A blender will be playing, only without Brian who's on holidays. THe FuckBlast gig is ridiculous. Dead by Dawn are just pissed off because they are banned from playing Blast again. You can mosh in the Half Moon, it's just the massive circles with people beating the shit outta others in the name of moshing is banned. Also crowd- surfing, because it's too dangerous in such a small venue.
I'm just trying to help out the organisers with this. It's a really hard job, and they get enough crap. If you're interested and/ or open- minded, we welcome and encourage you to go. However, if you feel you're too good for it, or would prefer to sit at home on a Sunday afternoon like a loser, doing nothing, then you're free to do that.
And to add, I'm not looking for abuse. If you have a problem, go hit a wall. Don't give me shit because you're in a bad mood, or have had a bad experience with Blast. Thanks.
Let me plat the evil one here for a minute.
are you working for them ?
now that i got that out of the way.
feedback is normally a good thing to hear about anything

for the record i have nothing against blast i've seen some good enough bands at it too but i much gigswhere the place isn't full of children. i also prefer gigs in the evening and in a pub where i can have a pint if i choose. i know there's a bar at blast but you can't leave the bar with your pint, so your's stuck on a balcony overlooking the big room until you've finished your drink. security is a joke, i can stand around and tell people waht to do and people listen to me, i'm not even dressed like the rest of the security staff. no one has ever asked me if i work there or questioned me and the security staff themselves have stood there laughing. for the number of people at the gig there isn't enough staff and those that are there couldn't control a crowd properly if their life depended on it

great post i was agreeing with you untill you ruined it by your last few lines!! ive been to nearly all of blast. seeing that im in between the ages of the ppl going to the gigs i really dont mind them i go into the crowd to look at the band i like then go to my mates and watch the rest from afar.. that doesnt bother me.. but the organisers do. i know whats invovled in the organising of a gig but still the crap i got one day from the old guy that runs blast gave me enough reason not to go back! on the other hand half moon is a great place to hold gigs tho
Lee Murphy's organising an anti blast gig in retort to the fact that blast costs so much.

Sorry about the last few lines alright, but some people like to abuse the messenger about things like that, and I'm sick of it. I was just trying to stop any more coming my way.
And no, I don't work for Blast. Yet...

well i dunno, it was 5 euro for wired to see ten cool bands, or 11 euro to see 7, 3 of which i know.
