they bringing in someting to replace the usit travelsave stamp see here (http://www.irishrail.ie/your_ticket/student_travelcard.asp) for more info. i think it's cie trying to get more money yet again, but who knows maybe we'll get cheaper tickets but it's not fucking likely

They still don't have proper fare for students who use cork loacl busses all the time.

The bus system and all the transport in general is a joke. A big joke. I don't mind paying €1.10 or even €1.50 for the bus as long as it arrives on time and gets me there when they say they will ... grrrrrr.

Also they should have different fares depending on where you are going, short trip == cheaper, then more people would use the damn things.

grrr.

No... that's just messy... and it encourages people to use the bus to go 100 yards down the road! The ticket should entitle you to use any bus for the next hour or 90 minutes or whatever [like the way it was in San Diego] - so if, for example, I want to go from Douglas to CIT I only have to pay once [or get the 19 but you know what I mean]

the fare system on dublin bus is like pablo says. longer the journey the more it costs. cie do a monthly bus pass on city and suburban buses for cork pablo

The ticket system :
Have different zones , you buy a ticket that allows you travel in that zone for say 1 hour in one direction, and if you want to go to the next zone, you pay a slightly increased fare.

Also they need more busses but that is a different story, also there should be electrical busses to save on pollution near the centre of the city.

they have a zone system in dublin and the more zones you go through the higher the fare but the ticket doesn't last an hour. bus fares are also way lower. only costs about 2.50 for me to travel to one side of the city to the other. usually have a 7 day bus pass though

some news from campus.ie
here (http://www.campus.ie/user?cmd=item-detail&itemid=9507)Students criticise Iarnrod Eireann over fare hikes

The Union of Students in Ireland has strongly criticised Iarnrod Eireann for raising the cost of its student fares by 8%. USI has said that many students are now arranging alternate forms of transport, such is the disgust at the hikes. feckers

They do over in San-Francisco is allow you to use your bus ticket on any other cith route for up to 90mins, which means if you have to swap busses or your not going to be too long you can get to your destination on 1 ticket.

Its quite good actually.
Never happen here though, they are too busy makin money...

I think the Blarney bus is kind of like that. I remember getting it once and being quite confussed because a return ticket was more than twice the cost of a one way ticket. Why the hell would anyone in their right mind buy a return?!? Course I could be wrong, I was dying with a hangover at the time...

if you get an ianroad eiran(spellcheck broke) student ticket to cork, return for a weekend its about twice as expensive as a monthly student return, which allows you thirth days to use it.

:evil::evil::evil:
Brought to you by Azraels useless facts.

even the weekly tickets for bus eireann aren't priced in a manner that would make you purchase them. Basically if you use the bus every day during the week at least twice then you would possibly save one or two €uros. It wouldn't encourage me to buy it anyways.
Plus the fact that you have to go to the bus station to purchase it doesn't help...
