I downloaded the muse album 2 nights ago, a leaked version with CD quality sound! Now for an ickle review,

The album starts off very well with a kinda marching music intro leading in to Apocolypse which has a heavy piano beat and lightish guitars. This is followed by another 4 songs including Time is Running Out and Stockholm Syndrome, and then there is an interlude. Altogether a good start to the album, but still very much muse'ish sounding, nothing different or vastly experimental.
The first song on the next half of the album is Hysteria and it has *shock* a slight electro backing sound! This electro sound is again repeated 2 songs ahead in my personal favourite song of the album "Butterflies and Hurricanes". The song is quite epic, with electro, piano and also a smidgen of violins. The next song "TSP" is back to basic muse stuff, a tad heavier than usual. Guess whats back in the following song "Endlessly"? Yup that's right more electro! Quite a boring and repetitive song, the weakest of the lot in my opinion The last two songs of the album are quite slow and not exceptional for Muse.

In short, the album still sounds very much Muse'ish and as such is quite good, although it starts off a lot better than it ends. Its worth the money of the purchase and I will buy it when it is out.

*edit* When i say electro I mean that the bass guitar sounds like the New Order bass guitar, that kind of electro beat!.

I think i will buy it off www.cd-wow.ie. Cheaper than your high-street store!

i spent a terribly productive day in work on fri and ordered 3 cds from amazon - oldies that i never got around to buying before

afghan whigs - congregation
nick cave and the bad seeds - best of
mazzy star - Among My Swan

before that i think it might have been
Bonny Prince Billy - master & everyone (astoundingly amazingly awesome)
Burt Bacharach - best of - double cd

as you can see, i really try to keep up with what's popular with the kids!
