‘LOVE UNBOLTS THE DARK’
the new album by the
IMMORTAL LEE COUNTY KILLERS II

"The Immortal Lee County Killers raucous take on the blues makes the White Stripes sound like Peters & Lee" Dazed & Confused

"Southern grit pumps through their veins in a way it never could for their
contemporaries from the motor city (the White Stripes) and New York City
(The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion). The Killers shake your nerves and rattle your brain" NME

"This is the sound of the blues-rock with it’s guts wrenched out and
screaming, more desperate and primitive than Jon Spencer’s particular blues assault. So, when you head out to the crossroads to make a pact with the devil, make sure this is the soundtrack." Kerrang

"An excellent duo who chomp up the blues something fierce...total
destruction of your mind"-Rolling Stone

"Purists, industry types, and squares turned all this wonderful living
music into the zombifed bloodless crap the zombies play on the radio and
stage. Rock is Dead. Punk is on MTV. And blues is a worldwide tourist
industry." THE IMMORTAL LEE COUNTY KILLERS

FEBRUARY 2003: The Immortal Lee County Killers II (hailing from Auburn, Lee County, Alabama, USA) released their second album, "Love Is A Charm Of Powerful Trouble" on Estrus Records (ES1285). Drummer, The Token One, and guitarist/vocalist Chetley Weise toured worldwide to spread their message of FUCK PUNK ROCK and BULLOCKS TO THE BLUES all over the world. Why? Because the Killers love you and they love rock and roll rhythm and blues.

And tomorrow weeps in a blind cage terror will rage apart / Before chains
break to a hammer flame/ And love unbolts the dark/ And freely he goes lost in the unknown - Dylan Thomas

AUGUST 2003: The Immortal Lee County Killers II have recorded a brand new album, LOVE UNBOLTS THE DARK, released exclusively in Europe on Sweet Nothing (SNCD027) on October 13th 2003, the album demonstrates thematically and artistically the KILLERS’ free exploration into the unknown, originally started on "Love Is….". Featuring 6 new studio tracks LOVE UNBOLTS… sees the band record for the first time with producer Lynn "Doc" Bridges (whose previous credits include the Quadrajets, Hellacopters, punk rock producer and superman TIM KERR, and the legendary MUSCLE SHOALS SOUND producer, Jimmy Johnson of Rolling Stones, Aretha etc fame). Bridges has single-handedly captured the raw power of ILCK II in true studio fidelity - no mean task considering all the ILCK records - from their two full length studio albums to a slew of 7 inch singles - have all been home recorded.

In addition to the 6 new songs, the remaining 4 are live recordings.
Including two are fresh ILCK2 versions of the classics "Said I'd Find My
Way" and "Let's Get Killed" which originally appeared on the band’s first
album, ‘The Essential Fucked Up Blues. With an acoustic version of Skip
James' "Devil Got My Woman" the record closes with a graceful finality.

Over three years ago the Killers came along with their debut, The Essential
Fucked Up Blues – they committed a mercy killing; then performed the
necessary rites to resurrect the remains of R ‘n’ R and Blues into a newly
evolved, genetically enhanced beautiful musical being. A terrible beauty
was born. Love is the fuel, the gas, the energy, the motivator to spark the
motor of change. The world needs to be changed. Love makes us fight. Love makes us smile. Love is a Charm Powerful Trouble. LOVE UNBOLTS THE DARK.

LOVE UNBOLTS THE DARK brings the Token One and Weise's John Lee Hooker and MC5 inspired supersonica into interstellar energy. Find out why the Southern United States is solely responsible for soul music, blues, rock ‘n’ roll, Martin Luther King Jr, William Faulkner and more tragedy and jubilation than any people deserves.

Don’t miss the IMMORTAL LEE COUNTY KILLERS’ mangled blues manifesto
