NYC to Open First Gay Public High School

New York City is $3.5 billion in debt and the education budget is being cut by $450 million, but somehow the city found the money to start the nation's first all-gay public high school — the Harvey Milk High School. The doors are set to open in September.

The school, which calls itself "the nation's first accredited public high school designed to meet the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth," actually started in 1984 as an alternative program within the New York City Public School system. The program has now been chartered as a full-fledged high school. Administrators are hoping to turn the new Harvey Milk High School into a model for the rest of the country. Stupid idea to be honest, integration , and not making a deal of it is the way to go. It is only an issue if you make it an issue.

So, kids would start at that school at the age of 12/13? Most kids won't have a CLUE what their sexual orientation is by then.

what the fuck! crap idea! i agree with pablo seting them aside in there own school is just gonna make them more gay!......so what you say? well in your teens im guessing seen as im in them. if you have a dought that r not straight and going 2 that school is just gonna make you a full on gay. suporting you as a gay, not what they should be doing in schools like talking 2 u and explaning things. leting you deside. if you go 2 a school like that i would think it would be like forcing it on u. crap idea...just making things worse 4 ppl who r not sure about them selves :wakko:

not with setting up there own schools but by making nationl schools more accectible to homosexuality and anything else in that genre! bu they're going about it abit to wrong.
