POS
i was there last night ,
hmmmm not too sure about it in the end
it was kinda empty until almost 1am ,
some music was cool enough {respect killian} but there were some dodgy songs like brim full of asha and stuff.
it was cool to be back there after so long away from the scene .

I ended up outside the place for some reason unknown to me...
...everyone hated it -> and I found alot of ppl after P.O.S. on Friday last!!! :curse:
Anyway I say...
SUPPORT HENRY'S; IT'S WAY BETTER!!!
;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
...and it's FREE!!! I tell you, FREEEEE!!!!

Pablo - it should be pointed out that after 3 years of knowing me, you really should be able to spell my name - down with the 'K' and up with the 'C'...
As for all this Henrys support - ridiculous. As someone who has worked for the 'lovely' people on South Main St, I must say I don't really miss the place - something about (allegedly) violent, homophobic, mysoginistic door men that that doesn't really instill confidence in the place.
It's all very well having a free night out but who is going to enjoy it when there are only 10 other people there? I'm sure Freakscene isn't quaking in its boots...
sorry mr C :'( ,
a point to remember that Henry's (http://homepage.tinet.ie/~sirhenrys/) was not Freakscene (http://www.freakscene.com/), they are two seperate things , ones the location and the other is an event run by the promoter. Technically Freakscene could be anywhere , and personally i found the move to The Savoy (http://www.savoytheatre.ie/) and FX (http://www.clubfxcork.com/) a much needed improvement (not as many broken bottles on the floor, more room to dance).
As for the shower of bouncers , i was thrown out of Freakscene in Henry's, kinda manhandled 'cause they thought i was kicking a wall, needless to say my feet didn't touch any of the stairs , or much of the dance floor as i was dragged across it. I was then searched for drugs and knives , (personally i've never saw anyone dealing in there on a Wednesday night , but then again i'm an innocent fish, but i was offered 'yokes' on a mistaken saturday night in Henry's).
To be honest the entry fee to POS (€4 for students) won't really break the bank either. The differnet selections of music they offer is really worth it (i.e. the live band that they have playing in the maltings). There are plenty of seats , dark corners, room on the dance floor and bar staff in POS/FX.
and my final comment .....
I'll be back probably after my exams though

I suppose you can't always please the little Korn Kidz...
The latest Henrys adventure will eventually fizzle out just like every other club that has tried to come up against Freakscene. I don't think I'll shed any tears either...

I think Camouflage is the best to be honest.I hate Henrys as a venue...they should really do it up-its a shithole!Planet of Sound never really did it for me either although i have had some really enjoyable nites there...it beats Henrys as a venue hands down.
I think the backroom in Camouflage with Darkmaster and Bubbles is class.......i prefer the heavier songs in a club....the more energetic ones that one can mosh to.I love light music but i just don't enjoy dancing to-and-fro to Californiacation and "there she goes, there she goes again..."

I'm not usually one to agree with Miss. Fringe but it was pretty class last night - respect to the young woman behind the bar who was giving me free drink all night...
Very hazy today but I think was talking to some girl who I was talking to in Camouflage on Thursday. No idea what her name is, what she looks like but she did keep pushing me over. Respect!!
Jwalk: put me on the list for next friday would ya mate ? :emb: (if you can't thats ok , i'll just pay i guess ....)

Pab,
I'm not sure if it's actually on next week because FX is closing for a couple of weeks for refurbishment but if it is on I'll sort you out...
nice one :B (you should go to bed earlier , or sleep in later ;)) i checked www.freakscene.com and there is no official mention of it closing for awhile .

Pab,
You'll be pleased to know that it is open on Friday before closing down for a few weeks...
Let there be rock...
thanks JWalk. I will be present with the usual suspects (ciarán and mairead anyhow, maybe ferg too)
see ya then :o , (let me know if you can get me on 'da list' , no hassle if you can't)
btw. where else could one go on a friday night ?
JWalkBoom
14-08-2002, 22:56
I'm not actually DJing so getting you on the list will be difficult but if I meet you beforehand, you could go in for free with me...
Mairead will kill me though - I never turned up for our date....
cool :D
i'm in work til 9pm on friday . And i don't know what pub people are going to.
A wiseman once said : If i see ya before then i'll see ya before it ....
you could always rearrange the date for fridaynight, mind you she does have a new b/f

Boyfriend, eh? I must have a chat to her about that...
It'll be good to see that lunatic Ferg again though. Should I expect the usual jumping and general trouble making from the young lad???
http://www.plauder-smilies.de/party/drink.gif
yep , plenty of drinks will be on the cards . The guys name is Paul (not me) and from her class. But i'd say with you back in the picture , she might change her mind , and go for someone stable (like you). I was talking to christina recently, she's off to burgos fulltime again next year. And ruths getting on grand in staines.
ferg hasn't confirmed his presence yet but keep your fingers crossed.

Alas, Pab, I'm already firmly entrenched in a relationship so I'll have the leave that side of it off but I must remind her of a conversation we had just before she left for Limerick...
"Not getting a boyfriend for long, long time etc"...
I actually met Christina last week - she's in great form as usual...
God bless everyone!!!!
I'm glad ye had that conversation about me so privately there boys! I don't think ALL of cork head it there so maybe an ad in the examiner would do it.
and as for you Cillian so "firmly entrenched in a relationship" you forgot about OUR date. You cut me deep man, you cut me deep.
feck .. spotted . as for the ad , thats a good idea :o
ferg will be home on friday JWalk. what pub are you going to btw. ?

Pab...
Far too early in the proceedings to be making any arrangements as to where I'll be tomorrow night...
thats true , but if you are looking for a side kick for the night you'll need to post up here where'll ya be.

sidekick? Pah!
The beautiful girlie shall provide the entertainment for the night...
;)

fine be like that , and i suppose you'll pretend that you don't know me or any of my clan either ....

Ah, but of course...
:D
now i am forced to play my real hand , the reason that paul wanted to know where you were going before POS was purely an advoidance measure {trying desperately to save face here}, so that paul would not be in the same public house as your fine self.
(its great to talk about yourself in the 3rd person , isn't it paul ?)

Pab...
To be honest with you, I don't know where I'm going but there's a good chance it'll be either the Quad or the Brog...
I prefer the Quad though...

Fair play to the lunatics (Pab, Ferg et al) - a lot of drink was taken on lads, I suspect...
As for the two young ladies (who were all kicks and flipping the bird at the DJ) - grow up a little, kids...

Can't please everyone, eh?
I personally had a great time - apart from that langer who kept trying to score with my girlie. You'd think he'd figure it out after the first 5 times I threw him out of the way...

Who's bike was it ? I liked alan fadd's version of Blister in the Sun (didn't know that elvis wrote it ;) )

A spot of 'Pablo throwing' is always to be encouraged, you know...
As for the girls who were kicking me - apparently, it was a case of mistaken identity so I don't really know who it was, However, they were quite clearly spotted sticking up their fingers at a certain DJ for his cameo of 15 minutes...
