i was just watching t.v when avril lavine(or what ever her name is) came on. her new song is a crappy cover of a great bob dylan song "knocking on heavens door".
in the video she looks very depressed and slighly suicidal, as she makes her way through the verses of the song they keep showing video clips of what seem to me to be iraq or some other war torn place.
i was just wondering is this a charity song that i missed or did she just feel the need to sing a song for the less fornuate people in the world for no reason?
if it is a charity song ,keep up the good work, if it isn't-whats the point?

it is a charity song.. and i like it! well my opinion but i do like the orginal much better! what are you on about "very depressed and slighly suicidal," she was prob made look like that by the record company!

ok, thanks for clearing that up, what charity is it cause i heard nothing about it.
and as for her looking very depressed the bit where she's singing over the mixing board, i t looks as if some one told her the worst news she could possibly hear.
ah well since i know its for charity i suppose i can't fault her.
i havent heard/seen it yet does it sound good?

its actually an ok version of the song. it gets in your head and you can't stop singing it kinda thing happens when ever i hear it.
oh well. im sure ill hear it soon then if thats the case :D
It's for that album that is/ has ? been released, consisting of 17 songs by different artists, and all the profits are going to help the children of Iraq.

sorry sorry ppl she has murdered that song! i my self think G"N"R did it best. originals rnt always best its a 50/50 chance i think, just look at some songs like along the watch tower(bob.d song aswel) he can not sing 2 save his life but sure can make songs up! :wakko:

its for various charities..the money goes to help iraq aids... the song is good.. and prob shes depressed because she saw a video of some poor kids from iraq or was talking to them before she started recording? of just acting????

The song comes from an album called Hope and it is to help support the War Child aid program. I almost got it purely for the New Order song, but seeing Ronan Keating on the tracklisting made me change my mind.

fuel was ok, she did an ok attempt at it. nothing to get excited about but not as bad as i thought it would be.
i thought sum 41 were the best act there apart from the boys themselves, korn were fairly good but fieldys bass playing kinda wrecked it. limp bizkit were surprisingly ok, except dj leathal scratched the solo on his decks(cliff rolled in his grave at that i bet).
by far the worst proformance at the mtvicon was arron lewis doing nothing else matters,truely terrible, closely followed by snoop dogs sad but true.
frantic was excellent at the end, much better than the mp3 i downloaded.
you have to admit it , at the end of the day she looks rather fine.

but bob dylan is brilliant! i think his voice is really versatile - sometimes it has an amazing smoky, world-weary quality, then others it's really rich and melodious, then pure country twang, then gentle and folksy....i won't go on!
but then, i'm totally biased, i adore dylan. :square:

First time I heard Avril singing it, I thought it was an Irish singer type (wioth full sean-nós chorus) like Sinéad lohen or such. I neraly wet myself laughing whren I heard who it was, she's so bad.
