The gardaí are really well kitted out in my opinion. Their 4x4's and Bikes are very very cool, and lets not forget the horses that they have aswell :D.
Didn't they get bullet-proof vests recently?

what planet do u be living on. i've seen fiat punto garda cars. new ones at that. i'd leave em for dead and it's not like my car is a sports car.

anti stab vests. protect from stabs and needles. only firearms trained gardai will have anti ballistic vests and they only get them when they are issued with a firearm.

But the 4x4's are class !!! :)
I guess anti-stab vests are better in the enviroment that our police are in since most bullet-proof vests can't stop knife attack and most crimes here do not involve firearms.
i got my first ride ever ina Garda car last night, one of the escorts. been in loadsa fire engines and ambulances so this made the final emeergency behicle

Anit-stab vests? I take the department assume that the gardai wil doo something about the streets of limerick. Don't think so.

it's got to do with syringe attacks here in dublin as well as the fact that we don't have much gun crime and the vests are very heavy and pretty expensive too
Garda cars can be very deceptive...go to any car dealer and they'll tell you they'd give their left bollock for a old law car....the engines in most(if not all) of them are way more advanced than their normal counterparts.

while that may be so most of em are only in reasonable condition, few of the cars are four wheel drive and none will come close to taking a scooby impreza. they are getting better what with the new mondeo st220's and all but they've a long long way to come
