For all the asian fans out there.Bouns points to anyone who can tell me the difference between anima and manga?
So dragon ballz,akira,what ever you wanna talk about.Where do you see them too cause I'm starting to run out with my current channels.
To put it simply, anime is Japanese cartoons. But keep in mind, they're nothing like the typical Saturday-morning cartoons. Anime is distinct from typical cartoons in their depth of characterization and plot (among other things). For the most part, the quality of animation in anime far surpasses that of average cartoons. Anime spans many genres, from silly romantic comedies (Marmalade Boy) to fantasy adventures (Entire Overfiend Legend), high-tech science fiction (Macross Plus,Ghost In The Shell), and much more. The most distinctive quality of anime is the subject manner: much of anime deals with "real-life" topics that normal cartoons wouldn't touch with a 30-foot pole. For instance, the death of major characters is common in anime, as are complex relationships between characters.
Many people might say "Manga are Japanese comics, and Anime is the Japanese version of animation. Anime is usually, but not always, the animated version of popular manga." That's partially true, but it can be misleading.

ohhh he be good.goast in a shell scared me but it also could have been because it was 4 in the morn after about 16 hours of anima and my bros where comtenplating reacing some of the scenes.
Also has a lot more naked people then normal cartoons.

GaiVer!!!!That was a class cartoon they did a film of it too.The guy who got a jewel in his head that was really a living suit that helpped him kick alien ass.The anima was better 9 hours long!!it was broke up into 3 hours segments for easy viewing.Lord of the rings eat your heart out!
Did you know the guy who played him in the mutronics film(live action version) was infact David Hayter..who does the voice of solid snake in the MGS series....who in turn wrote the screenplay for the x-men movie!

James Cameroon said he IS going to make a live action version of 'GITS' before he retires from directing...its gonna fuckin rule!
I know Akira is in pre-production now,the movie should be out sooner than you think!

Okay, I was REALLY scared by Ninja Scroll... That bit where the stone monster dude ripped that guy apart by the arms and styarted drinking the blood, and ew the noise... Doesn't Jubei kick major ass!
Indeed that movie is quite good,infact ive just added it to my collection of dvd's.
Gotta try and grab GITS if its avalible here,such an amazing movie!PhoenixJ tell jubei that they have made X 2 he will be most impressed with this development.
All time favorite Manga:"Crying Freeman" or else "Cyber City Oedo 808"--all the three chapters were fantastic!Good soundtrack to boot!

Yeah I've heard the soundtrack to Cyber City. It's...em... no comment (ie total headfuck to you). That feckin manga riff... and the bit with the cheesy keyboards. Utter madness (sweet creeping Jesus what have ye DONE to me? I used to be sweet and innocent. Goddamn it all to hell)

Ya I read somthing to that effect in essential x-men before I came in today.Gotta say I perfered the anima version(purly for the 9 hours of kiileyness :evil: )But the action film was trea cool to.
Prize* for anyone who can tell me the longest fight in an anima series??
*When I say prize I'll prob just go"That's reeal nice in a condersending way and run away before you look for a proper way but I'll be your friend if it makes you fell better.
I dunno,maybe it was one in ''Fist Of The Northern Star'' damn that movie ruled...t.v. series sucked major though!

they got a lot of that jap stuff on cnx (channel 244 sky digital) doesn't do it for me personally though
Its true...some anime really sucks but i suppose that goes with everything in life,gotta have some bad apples somewhere along.

anima is the television show and manga is the book ones.Like cartoons and comics.
The longest continoues fight in a cartoon series was between freisa and Goko in dragon ball z.It was all throught the Freisa saga and a good part of the namik saga.24 or 42 shows of continous hitting and puching and biting.Oh that was a good show.It took Goko 3 shows to power up one attack.Been long but I was in surspence for most of it.

CNX i thought would be better but its kinda crap only good for a ouple of crtoons even then its not that interesting.

freaks freak is right manga is the books magazines etc.
here are the differences
First, the obvious is the artwork. Usually, the art in mangas are more fine and better than anime. The eyes are drawn with more emotion and the hair lines are much much finer to depict the flowing style. Anime however, have good artwork too but not as good as their brethrens in mangas
Usually anime originate from their story off mangas, like Fushigi Yuugi and some others. However, there's instances where the anime itself is a stand alone feature. Examples are those one shot OVA movies made which have no manga origin. These stories are some what different from those in the mangas either containing new plots or missing some. Sometimes, the artists might even change the whole flow of the storyline to attract new viewers as well.

Kinda i like it when i first say it and watched it all the way too the end. Towards the end it was getting a little boring but still its good if yur bored.
Hell where else are u going to see on a regular basis big hugh cool looking, armed too the teeth with massive wepons on tv.
O and did i mention the hugh explosions.
Now DBZ. Thats a cartoon that i think has lost it. Although I think i just dont like it anymore.

Within moments the military arrives and Tetsuo is whisked away in a helicopter, to a top secret hospital, where certain experiments in esper and psychokinetic powers are being conducted. After a few tests, Tetsuo is shown to be receptive to an attempt to 'awaken' his latent psychokinetic talents. Encouraged, the scientists decide to go ahead with their operations. Unfortunately for Neo-Tokyo, they succeed...
Description:
Tetsuo is a short, slightly scrawny 15 year-old juvenile delinquent. He has an unkempt mop of black hair that falls down to his shoulders in the back (actually, his hair length is kinda variable, but always messy). Tetsuo normally dresses in jeans, boots a white t-shirt and what looks like welder's gloves. Later, after achieving his full power, he wears white trousers, a white shirt and a long, ragged, red cloak
Remember seeing the film and remember the guy but I'm crap with names so the japanese ones totally feck me up.

There is no sequel there proberly will never be one either(To be honest i dont wanna see another one,the first was too fucked up),although they are currently discussing the live action AKIRA movie,but i know filmfour funded two liveaction Tetsuo movies entitled..."Tetsuo:man of steel"...Fuckin messed up.

Indeed you speak of the ''Legend Of The Overfiend'',it was a disturbing show,but funnily enough i watched it again recently and found it was quite a cool movie.Try and watch it again and im sure u'll notice a much more serious side to the film you'll pick up on straight away!

I never watch much Manga and Anima, all thoe im now taking a small intrest in "Gundam Wing" ...........
The Drawings are quite cool in the Cartoons..
But "Dragon Ball Z" is just a bit annoying..

Dragon Ball can be drawn out at times,i feel theres some major over-indulgence in some of the episodes(i.e. fights go on too long)
But Gundam Wing is a really cool concept and i havent seem it in a while so poo!(if you like that show try playing ''Zone Of Enders'' on the PS2,tis class...movie is better though.

Nah dont like Sony. Been a SEGA fan my whole life. I bought a PS1 once......sold it 3 months later, It was shite.
PS2 the console is ok. Too many rehased, over-priced games for my liking.
Probably going to get an X-Box they are cool.
Not very good games out for it though,but SEGA are realaising all their games on it so in fact it would be a better buy for you personally(i saw the new panzer dragoon...i wept at its glory)

Not all. They are being sneaky and giving different platforms like PS2, GC, GBA and X-box different games.
Personally the game SEGA are releasing for X-Box are the games i want to play. Although if i had the money and the time I'd buy them all :). But can only afford one.
Without SEGA and Nintendo the world of video games would be a sorry old state.
Dragoon looks amazing, so does Shenmue 2, VF4...., Its just a pity SEGA dont do consoles anymore :(

I heard rumours of 2 other Akiras.Don't think they can be got in English though.Feel free to let me know if you find out otherwise.
Last time i checked the live action Akira IS being made(*Frown*),although no word on a manga sequel's.
Course theres always the books which continue the story more,and the movie's "Tetsuo:Man Of Steel" could be considered a sort-of sequel.
The good news is that a sequel of Ghost In The Shell has been realised in Japan,however gettin here might be hard unless you import.(Thats where i come in!):evil:
So anyway....back to manga.

At the moment im after buyin the Preacher graphic novel's.
I was too sick of readin other peoples copies so i said screw it im buyin my own.
I'd recommend it to any fan of sci-fi or just reading in general.
Fairly mature also so if blood guts and swearing aint your scene avoid.

Indeed, Hentai is disturbing to the eye,but it also displays the artists great talent also. Its a well known fact that one of the hardest images to draw is the human figure....even if their eyes are half the size of their head!:p

The figures are simple to draw!!! It's those damn hands and feet that make it hard. There's that semi-hentai on Scuzz sometimes. Colourful or something. That's just disturbing in a stupid kinda way.

My sister turned me on to that series, and it is just fuckin excellent, i love the dark humor that every so often pops up.
also the kinda manga and anime i like, akira, ghost in the/a shell, umm some other stuff, manga is cool in general.

roight! anime is a style of animation made famous by the japanese studio Manga comics. Manga are a company but are most associated with the anime genre due to the success in europe and the states of the Akira and Street Fighter 2 animated films that were released outside japan in the early ninties. manga themselves initially rose to fame with the Fist of the North Star film, which was followed by a comic run and a tv series, then a very badly made, but accurate live action film. the Manga studio has a pattern on releasing material too. every year expect one huge film/ one huge series and several smaller series/films. the major series/film generally are handled by one of the sub studios, e.g. Madman studios(Ghost in the Shell/Evangelion)
these studios are generally made up of level 1 and 2 artists, whereas the smaller series and the majority of the comics/graphic novels are handled by manga central studios. these are used to train level 3 to level 6 artists. im tired of typing, if ya wanna know more tell me.
