The best of Nirvana,what a joke! I'm a huge Nirvana fan. Have been since the teen spirit days in '91, but this best of is just a money making scam by major label greed. I mean, maybe if there was more unreleased tracks, but for just one unreleased song? Just download it from the net. What would Kurt think if he was here? I think it's an insult to him.
What do other people think???

Kurt Cobain used to phone up MTV complaining that they weren't playing Nirvana songs enough.
For those that read "Heavier than Heaven" they will probably noticed how Courtney Love didn't seem to bad until Kurt died and Kurt seemed to be a total wanker, (e.g openly talking about how he was going to fire Dave Grohl )

I am a die hard Nirvana fan and I can't believe that people actually put faith in rubbish like 'heavier than heaven'.
An example of how kurt didn't like being rich is: he refused to be driven around in a limosuine, he always drove himself or got a van.
Courtney bought a lexus and he made her return it and get a ford car. Courtney was the money grabber, not kurt. Did you see how he used to dress for god sake, like a hobo.

Heavier than Heaven is a lot more reputable than www.cobaincase.com. The author(Charles R. Cross) of Heavier than Heaven put a lot of time and effort in to writing this book, this included interviewing those closest to Kurt, from his best friend during his teenage years (Jesse) to Krist Novoselic and to Dave Grohl. I think the author did a lot more homework on Kurt than the webmaster of www.cobaincase.com.
His diaries are being printed in the Guardian newspaper in weekly installments. Read those and see how fucked up he was.

Actually the author of cobain case, is the private investigater that courtney hired to find kurt when he disappeard.He does not profit anything from telling his story(unlike courtney).Courtney told charles cross what he could and couldn't write.
Cobaincase is solid facts not opinions. As a private investigater he is obliged to state legal FACTS to avoid getting sued.
Read that whole story. It is impossible to dismiss it.Whereas it is very easy to dismiss the writings of charles cross, someone who never met kurt and probably never listened to nirvana. Coutney hired him because he's a good author.

Do you honestly think that Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Dylan, Kurt's dealer would have given interviews to Charles Cross if they thought Courtney Love was going to profit from the sale of the book. They gave the interviews because they wanted to tell the truth. The P.I didn't spend years touring around with Kurt like Krist did so I think he Krist is more of an authority on Kurt's life.
Q.1 Did you even read Heavier than Heaven?
Q.2 Do you think Kurt commited suicide or was he murdered?
the reason i would buy it is for the scott litt remix of pennyroyal tea, it would be interesting to see how much it differed from the albini version.

JohnnyJ- That sort of teminoligy doesn't belong in a music forum- And yet it seems to be useable everywhere else. I did not mean it in an offensive manner, give me a break. About half of these people would of used the same word. I suposed that you would be offended, if I used spastic instead. These words have just been wrongly used, as in a person does something retarded, it's SLANG .
Slang has made many a word in proper and offensive, like the word gay. I'm not in the wrong on this one but I still apoligise for any offense caused.

Yes i have read it and it's not as good as other biographies i've read and the information from the rest of the band and dylan etc. is not half as interesting as word for word interviews i've read in mojo and guitar world from krist, dave and Steve Albini. You know that claim that kurt wanted dave out of the band? well it's funny that the only person to ever hear of that was courtney and she only came out with that after foo fighters released stacked actors which slagged her.Where as krist ,kurts closest friend, said there was band tension but no-one was leaving. Granted that she was his wife and he might tell her first but many sources including:Dylan,krist and michael stipe claim that they were on the brink of divorce from late 1993 onwards.

I really don't know. I'd like to believe he killed himself rather than being a murder victim but there's alot of evidence for both cases. The fact is we'll never know and even if we did it wouldn't bring him back.

Whatever your views on Kurt and Nirvana,do read 'Heavier than Heaven'.Best book i ever read and it tells the truth...unlike most books bout Kurt and Nirvana.Also,the book 'Who killed Kurt Cobain?' is a very interesting read.I am a Nirvana fan but believe me,ya don't have to be to enjoy these books.
well when u talk about punk 'ideals' what exactly does that mean? it cant mean underground because all the punk bands of the 70's were signed to major label e.g ramones, stooges, sex pistols the clash etc. so this whole punk ideal came around in the 80's when shit punk bands couldnt get signed and walked around saying "oh yeah were not gonna sell out we're real punks!" that is not to say that i think all 80's punk is shit because black flag were amazing and rollins still is to this day, but a lot of people do get mixed up. hell! the first proper punk band (pistols) were manufactured!!!

All these people saying that Kurt just wanted to make money, give it a rest. He commit suicide for God sake!!Even that stupid lawsuit that was going on over "You know your right", thats everything that Kurt stood against, that Nirvana stood against.
Nirvana were not your normal rock stars, and as Kurt stated numerous times "We're not as rich as everyone thinks we are".
He had to spend a lot of his money fighting off lawsuits and custody battles.{Vanity Fair in '92}
So lets just focus on the music.
